Forever Christmas (2018) (a J!-ENT Digital HD Review)

I enjoyed the story for its love of Christmas and its happy ending. And fortunately, through a few twists and turns, “Forever Christmas” is not too predictable. But I did enjoy this holiday telefilm a lot and I do recommend it!

When workaholic reality TV producer Sophie (Chelsea Hobbs) starts working on a holiday-season show about Will (Christopher Russell), a wildly sexy guy who celebrates Christmas every day of the year, she finds herself falling for her mysterious, unlikely new star, renewing her long-lost faith in Christmas in the process.

For day 20 of my holiday marathon, I am checking out the Lifetime Television telefilm “Forever Christmas”.

The telefilm is directed by Christie Will Wolf (“Slightly Single in L.A.” and many holiday films) and written by Gary Goldstein (“If You Only Knew”, “Politics of Love”) and is an adaptation of the book by Ruth Clampett.

The film stars Chelsea Hobbs (“Make It or Break It”, “Lords of Dogtown”, “UnREAL”), Christopher Russell (“Star Trek: Discovery”, “Supernatural”, “Flashpoint”), Matthew Kevin Anderson (“Death Note”, “Travelers”), Jill Morrison (“Project Blue Book”, “Motherland: Fort Salem”) and many more.

“Forever Christmas” revolves around producer Sophia Worthy (portrayed by Chelsea Hobbs), a producer who has been down and out and is brought back out of unemployment and what may be considered her last chance, to produce a reality show about a man who celebrates Christmas 365 days of the year.

Will Saunders (portrayed by Christopher Russell) has Christmas decorations and Christmas all over his living room all year round, a home that he inherited from his grandparents who raised him after his parents passed away. They loved Christmas and for Will, it’s a special meaning for him.

And as Will receives a call from Sophia who hopes he considers taking part of the reality TV show, for Will, he would only do it if he is portrayed tastefully and she gives him her word.

And while Sophia envisions Will to be something more homely, when she sees Will, he’s physically fit and looks like a supermodel with many talents.

And when the production crew arrives and films the reality show, producer Paul Rivera (portrayed by Matthew Kevin Anderson) wants to make the reality show less wholesome and showcase Will as a hunk.

Throughout the shooting, both Sophia and Will have chemistry and start to fall for each other, but Sophia knows she can’t fall for the man she is filming as that would be ethically wrong, while Will falls head over heels for Sophia, but what happens when the reality show starts to stray from what Sophia had promised?

For the most part, “Forever Christmas” is a holiday film that would attract viewers as its an entertaining storyline about a man who loves Christmas, has Christmas decorations inside and outside of his home (to the chagrin of some of his neighbors) and Will is portrayed a man with many talents, but also a caring man who wants to give back to the community. Sophia, is a producer torn by her feelings for Will and her producer job knowing this reality show can kickstart her career after numerous unsuccessful shows.

No doubt that Chelsea Hobbs and Christopher Russell have great chemistry with one another and for the most part, I do like how the storyline has a more adult feel (as there are moments where their chemistry may lead to sexual chemistry) but of course, this is a holiday Christmas film for the entire family, so it stays within its boundaries of not going too far.

But if anything I enjoyed the story for its love of Christmas and its happy ending. And fortunately, through a few twists and turns, “Forever Christmas” is not too predictable. But I did enjoy this holiday telefilm a lot and I do recommend it!
