The fun continues as we join Dora, Boots and Baby Winky on a spaceship trip to the purple planet and then hop on Pegaso, the flying horse constellation, for the ride of your life!

For many children, there are times when you experience things for the first time and that is the theme with the latest DVD release of “Dora the Explorer” titled “It’s Haircut Day”.

In this DVD, Boots experiences his first haircut at barbershop, Dora’s brother and sister experiences their first birthday and Dora and Boots riding their first trip on the Pegaso.

And like previous “Dora the Explorer” DVD’s, children can learn Spanish language skills, math skills and new songs and the importance of having friends plus other learning and problem-solving skills.

Included on this DVD are the following episodes:

  • Dora’s Hair-Raising Adventure – Boots needs a haircut to prepare for his mother’s birthday picture.  So, Boots experiences his first haircut at the barbershop.
  • Happy Birthday Super Babies – Dora’s young twin brother and sister ala the Super Babies are celebrating their first birthday but they must save all the birthday cakes from the cake-snatching bear.

VIDEO & AUDIO:

“Dora the Explorer: It’s Haircut Day” is presented in full screen and in Dolby Digital stereo. Animation features vibrant colors and dialogue is clear and understandable. Picture quality is good as these are newer episodes.

But overall, this is for the children and the picture and audio quality is colorful and vibrant. Some CG is utilized for the backgrounds and for the most part, picture quality is very good.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

“Dora the Explorer: It’s Haircut Day” comes with no special features.

“Dora the Explorer: It’s Haircut Day” is a fun release for children and also parents who want to find DVD’s that can be educational for children.  This latest DVD also features newer episodes from the “Dora the Explorer” children’s animated series.

As mentioned, this DVD is all about first time experiences and for children getting their first haircut at the barbershop or experiencing their first birthday, this DVD definitely covers those topics and would definitely entertain children who are also experiencing these similar situations for the first time.

My young son literally grew up in his young toddler years watching Dora and through this series, it was very helpful in helping him develop skills on decision making and also learning a little Spanish.

In this DVD series, children can learn Spanish Language skills and also math skills and most importantly giving children the opportunity to make their decisions and interact with the series. Also, there are new songs for your children to learn and sing and also learning about the importance of friends plus other learning and problem solving skills that the popular children show is known for.

I’ve been critical in the past of Nickelodeon children DVD’s not having any special features an often you don’t get any special features.  And although, often “Dora the Explorer” DVD’s do include them from time-to-time, this latest DVD release does not.  It would have been great to add a bonus episode but considering how these DVD’s are quite affordable, the fact that you get four episodes for a low price is a major positive for parents/guardians wanting an educational DVD for their young children.

For the most part, your young children should be entertained by this release and if you have a child who is celebrating their first birthday, their first haircut or anything for the very first time, they will definitely find all four episodes in “Dora the Explorer: It’s Haircut Day” to be fun and enjoyable.

Overall, a wonderful, fun and educational DVD for the children!
