“Zombie Hunter” is a B-rated horror zombie film that has its weaknesses (acting, overuse of special effects and storyline), but for those craving a zombie film for Halloween time, then you may want to give “Zombie Hunter” a try…but be prepared to do more laughing than being scared.

When a street drug turns junkies into an army of giant, mutant flesh-eaters, no hope is left – but one man remains. From K. King comes a zombie horror film titled “Zombie Hunter” which will be available on Blu-ray and DVD courtesy of Well Go USA entertainment in Oct. 2013.
The film would star Martin Copping (“Battle Ground”, “Elegy for a Revolutionary”), Danny Trejo (“Machete”, “Grindhouse”, “From Dusk Till Dawn”) and Clare Niderpruem (“Vamp U”, “Maze”).
“Zombie Hunter” begins with an introduction to a group of drug users who are hooked on “Natas” and it turns them to flesh eaters.
The film then shifts to Hunter, a camaro driving individual who doesn’t fear the flesh eaters and kills them with ease.
But while driving his Camaro, Hunter talks about not being able to find any living people but only flesh eaters. He holds a picture of a woman and a child and often kills flesh eaters.
During his drive, he is shot and when he awakens, he is with a few humans who are still alive. An old mechanic named Jerry (portrayed by Terry Guthrie), a young woman named Alison (portrayed by Clare Niederpruem) and her horny young brother, a scantily clothed woman named Fast Lane Debbie (portrayed by Jade Regier) and another survivor. But also is a stern mysterious man, Father Jesus (portrayed by Danny Trejo).
But when flesh eaters try to attack their compound, everyone must escape and find a way to safety but a huge monster, a chainsaw wielding clown and many flesh eaters are constantly in their way.
Will they survive their ordeal?

“Zombie Hunter” is presented in 16:9 widescreen. Picture quality for the film is very good as closeups show excellent detail, from facial hair, grime and overall closeups.
The film looks good for many of its scenes from Hunter driving his car through the desert but there is a lot of instances where flame CG looked too fake and the overuse of pink kind of took away from the film. But for the most part, costume and make up design was done well and picture quality on Blu-ray looked very good!
AUDIO & SUBTITLES:
“Zombie Hunter” is presented in 5.1 DTS-HD MA and 2.0 Stereo. Lossless soundtrack is quite good in some areas, where I notice use of the surround channels for explosions and gun shots. Dialogue and music is also crystal clear.

“Zombie Hunter” is a B-horror film that tends to incorporate a little “Mad Max” and “Resident Evil” and tries to be a zombie film with humor and horror.
While “Zombie Film” does feature the usual zombies feasting on people’s innards, the film leans more towards the funny, hilarious side than straight horror as blood splatters are more pink than red, some of the way the humans die look a bit of fake and the CG (ie. flames for explosions) tends to look fake.
While there are many zombie films out there, with Halloween around the corner, this may be a film for friends to watch, not necessarily be scared but to have an experience of humor, spotty acting and not the best use for effects.
“Zombie Hunter” tries too much to incorporate a style to the film that is not necessarily better. For example, one person is killed by a chainsaw, but the effect of blood splatter on the camera lens is overdone, innards throw towards people is also overdone.
The only thing that I found really entertaining was seeing the sexual tension between Hunter and Alison, while also seeing Alison’s horny young brother getting too fixated on scantily clad Debbie who hardly wears anythings.
As for the Blu-ray release, the film actually looks good and great detail when it comes to closeups. The lossless soundtrack has its moments of immersiveness and dialogue and music are crystal clear.
Overall, “Zombie Hunter” is a B-rated horror zombie film that has its weaknesses (acting, overuse of special effects and storyline), but for those craving a zombie film for Halloween time, then you may want to give “Zombie Hunter” a try…but be prepared to do more laughing than being scared.
