An out-of-work actress returns to her quaint hometown where a Christmas romance proves the life she once left behind could turn out to be even better than Broadway. Stars Sarah Lancaster, Brendan Penny and Gwynyth Walsh.

It’s day 41 and I think I’m going to continue the holiday film marathon until I reach day 50 or by New Year’s Eve.

And so, today’s film is “‘Tis the Season for Love”, a Hallmark Channel holiday film directed by Terry Ingram and written by Nina Weinman.

The holiday telefilm stars Sarah Lancaster (“Chuck”, “Everwood”), Brendan Penny (“I Love You, Beth Cooper”), Gwynyth Walsh (“Stargate SG-1”, “Star Trek: The Next Generation”), Andrew Francis (“The Invisible”, “Final Destination 3”), Jessica Harmon (“Supernatural”, “The 100”), Anna Van Hooft (“Flash Gordon: A Modern Space Opera”) and more.

“‘This the Season for Love” revolves around an actress named Beth (portrayed by Sarah Lancaster). She moved to New York and has auditioned for Broadway plays but it has been more challenging on than expected and only working in plays which no one watches. So, she’s crashing at her friend, fellow actress Nicole’s (portrayed by Anna Van Hooft) home, who is working in Broadway.

As Beth waits to find out if she gets a part for a Broadway play, it has been years since Beth has been back at home for the holidays and her friend gives her a present buying her a ticket to go home for Christmas. So, Beth makes a surprise visit.

While Beth sees her mother Shirley (portrayed by Gwynyth Walsh), her mother wonders if something is wrong, because she couldn’t afford a ticket, but grateful her daughter is back home.

When Beth and her mother go through town and sees Santa, as her mother wants to make her Christmas wishes.

While there, she sees her ex-boyfriend Barry (portrayed by Andrew Francis), Dean (portrayed by Brendan Perry) and Alexis (portrayed by Vanessa Walsh) and finds out that Barry and Alexis are happily married. And when everyone reunites for dinner, everyone thinks that Beth is a successful actress in New York. But many wonder how they all lost ties with Beth.

Beth and Dean start hanging out, the two start having fun spending time together. Meanwhile, Beth starts having dreams of two young boys visiting her while sleeping and calling her mom.

The town needs someone to help the children for their holiday play and hope Beth can prepare them and she agrees, and starts to notice how much happier she has become while being at home. Is this a sign? Or will she get the part in Broadway and get the part of her dreams?

For the most part, “‘Tis the Season for Love” is a story of a person who leaves her small hometown to move to the big city, but the dreams that she had are not going so smoothly as planned. But when she returns back home, she finds herself happier being home, even though she wanted to leave when she was younger to pursue this big dream of being on stage in Broadway.

While this type of storyline has been used numerous times for holiday films, I like it in the fact that it’s different from the story of girl goes back to her hometown and reunites with her ex-boyfriend and split because of not wanting to have a long distant relationship. In this case, the ex-boyfriend is now happily married with children, which leaves the character Beth with another childhood friend who enjoy their time together.

“‘Tis the Season for Love” has a delightful storyline and for the most part, I think those who love romance holiday telefilms will surely enjoy watching this Hallmark Channel holiday film!
