“THE SIMPSONS” FANS HAVE SPOKEN… LONG LIVE NEDNA!

The votes are in: NED FLANDERS (Harry Shearer) and EDNA KRABAPPEL (guest voice Marcia Wallace) have found true love, it was revealed in last night’s Season 23 premiere of THE SIMPSONS.

“Nedna stayed together and the new girl in my life is simply ‘adorkable!’ That’s how we all have to talk on FOX now,” said Ned, in a prepared statement following the broadcast.

After last May’s “will-they-or-won’t-they” season finale, viewers were given the chance to decide the future of Springfield’s newest “it” couple – Ned and Edna – by voting “Pro Nedna” or “No Nedna” on www.thesimpsons.com. To fuel fans’ passions, computer screen wallpaper, videos, Twitter badges and Facebook icons proclaiming “I’m Pro Nedna” or “I’m No Neda” were made available to download and post throughout the summer. Once the votes were tallied and revealed during last night’s premiere, pro-Nednas worldwide cheered and anti-Nednites jeered as they saw the couple was bound together for all eternity by a majority of SIMPSONS online fans.

In the next all-new episode, “Bart Stops to Smell the Roosevelts,” airing Sunday, Oct. 2 (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX, BART (Nancy Cartwright) and his band of “Rough Riders” go on an unauthorized field trip, putting superintendent Chalmers’ (Hank Azaria) job on the line.
