No doubt die-hard fans of the Danish noise-pop duo The Raveonettes trembled with excitement when they previewed a demo version of “Last Dance” this June. Three months later, the band is releasing the final version of the song as the lead off single from their forthcoming album In And Out Of Control (out October 6th on VICE Records). Reveling in a simultaneous display of bright, gleeful, and melancholic fuzz-distressed pop that could only belong to The Raveonettes, “Last Dance” has already been heralded by SPIN Magazine as “immaculate” and “the most accessible song from them to date” by Spinner.com after its performance at Lollapalooza.
Along with the recently leaked album track “Suicide”, and the series of stripped down teaser performances from the iTunes bonus video featurette The Chelsea Sessions, “Last Dance” provides a promising glimpse of The Raveonettes’ wildly anticipated fourth studio album. Perhaps their most ambitious release to date, In And Out Of Control combines the noir-garage rock sounds of their early releases with the darkness of 2008’s Lust Lust Lust for a mixture of 11 equally morose yet ecstatic pop gems.
Following up on the rave reviews of The Raveonettes’ live debut of new album tracks this summer at Lollapalooza, the band will depart for North America this fall (tour dates below).
