Back in 2002, Avex held auditions for a new female group they were developing called SweetS. At the time, five girls between the ages of 12-13 would be selected from the audition and sure enough Akiko Kashiwagi, Ayaka Yoshimura, Haruna Takewa, Mai Iwasaki and Miori Takimoto were selected and a year later, the five member all-female group released their first single “LolitA ☆ Strawberry in summer” and the group took off in 2004 becoming one of the more popular female pop groups in Japan.

The group has returned with their eleventh and final single “Color of Tears”.  The single “Color of Tears” is probably a single that caught my attention due to how mature the tracks are compared to their previous releases.  If this is a final goodbye from the teens, this is a proper goodbye single.

“Color of Tears” is like a final goodbye for their fans, featuring an upbeat yet emotional song written by Kenn Kato and music by Greenwich Fields.  While the coupling track “Dear my friends” is written by romantic high and music and arrangement by Hidetoshi Yamada.  The music begins with a piano arrangement and transitions to a slow rock song.

If anything, both singles are well-done and well-performed.

As for the DVD, the DVD features the music video for “Color of Tears” featuring the quartet visiting the shops in Thailand and performing the song at the beach.

The CD insert features the lyrics for the two tracks and production credits.Overall, a pretty solid farewell single from SweetS and while unfortunate that the group has decided to disband, their final single doesn’t disappoint at all.  If you are a SweetS fan, this single is definitely recommended!
