VIDEO & AUDIO:

The episodes featured in “Nick Jr. Favorites: Happy Halloweenl” are presented in full screen and in Dolby Digital stereo.

Animation features vibrant colors and dialogue is clear and understandable. Picture quality is dependent on the series as “Dora the Explorer”, “Go, Diego, Go!” and “Ni Hao, Kai-Lan” are animation-based, “Blue’s Clues” and “Wonder Pets!” tend to combine CG, while “Yo Gabba Gabba!” is not animated but does have animated segments.

Overall, this is for the children and the picture and audio quality should be satisfactory.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

There are no special features included on this DVD.

“Nick Jr. Favorites: Happy Halloween” is a fun and educational release for children and also parents who want to find DVD’s that are safe and in this case, six Halloween-themed episodes that will help educate children to the concept of Halloween.

My young son literally grew up in his young toddler years watching many of Nickelodeon’s children’s series and through this series, it was very helpful in helping him develop skills on decision making and also learning a little Spanish (through episodes like “Dora the Explorer” and also a little Chinese through “Ni Hao, Kai-Lan”.  But also develop singing skills and pretty much hone their decision making skills.

In this DVD series, children are eased into the concept of Halloween and while safe for children, there are no depictions of anything scary at all.  There is an episode of Blue’s Clues that goes into Blue being scared but in many ways, it’s an episode to help children not be so afraid of shadows, pictures, etc.

If there was one thing that I am a bit critical about this DVD release, I was hoping that there would be some DVD-Rom content, games or some sort of special feature content included on this DVD. From coloring pages, to fun facts or anything that children can take advantage of after they watch the episodes. But of course, that is me being picky.

For the most part, your young children should be entertained by this release. All episodes are safe for children and parents will also be happy to know that they can learn from each of these episodes.

Overall, for any parent who has a child that is in pre-school or kindergarten, will find “Nick Jr. Favorites: Happy Halloween” a safe Halloween-themed educational DVD.
