Learn how your favorite Nick Jr friends are going green and caring for the planet in this Earth Day–inspired DVD. Treat your children to over two hours of entertainment with episodes from Dora the Explorer, Go, Diego, Go!, Wonder Pets!, Yo Gabba Gabba!, Blue’s Clues, and Ni Hao, Kai-lan.

On March 20th, the United Nations celebrates Earth Day, while in the US, Earth Day is celebrated on April 20th.   But during this stretch of the month, everyone is introduced to ways they can show their appreciation and help the Earth’s environment.

Nickelodeon wants to introduce children on how to care for the environment and what best by using their top children shows from Nick Jr. which include “Dora the Explorer”, “Go, Diego, Go!”, “Wonder Pets!”, “Yo Gabba Gabba!”, “Blue’s Clues” and “Ni Hao, Kai-lan” in a special DVD release titled “Nick Jr. Favorites – Go Green!”.

The DVD features six episodes that relate to the Earth and its environment and children working together to help the environment.

Include on the single DVD are:

  • Dora the Explorer – “Bugga Bugga” – Mami Bugga Bugga Bug needs help carrying a cookie home to feed her little Bugga Bugga Babies.  Will you help Dora and boots on their adventure to the Big Blue Bush?
  • Go, Diego, Go! – “Manatee’s Mermaid Rescue!” – Did mermaids used to be manatees?  Find out when Diego and Manatee jump into a book and swim from forest rivers out to the salty ocean to save Mermaid City!
  • Wonder Pets! – “Save the Tree” – “Save the Elephant” – The Wonder Pets set out to save a lonely Little Tree in a city lot and a young elephant stuck in the mud in Kenya.
  • Yo Gabba Gabba!: – “Green” – Go green in Gabbaland and learn how to take care of flowers, plants, animals, and our whole world too!
  • Blue’s Clues: What Does Blue Want to Make Out of Recycled Things?” – While cleaning up around the house, Blue decides she wants to make something out of recycled things.  But what?  help Steve look for Blue’s Clues to figure it out!
  • Ni Hao, Kai-lan: The Place Where We All Live – The ants, snails and worms are busy building a new fruit stand in Ant City!  But they run into problems when they find trash everywhere!

VIDEO & AUDIO:

“Nick Jr. Favorites” is presented in full screen and in Dolby Digital stereo.   Animation features vibrant colors and dialogue is clear and understandable.  Picture quality is good as there are some animated shows that are newer than others.  For example, “Blue’s Clues” features an episode with the previous host Steve but then you get a newer series with “Yo Gabba Gabba!”, “Go Diego, Go!” and “Ni Hao, Kai-lan”.

But overall, this is for the children and the picture and audio quality should be satisfactory.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

There are no special features included on this DVD release but previews for upcoming Nick Jr. cartoons on DVD.

“Nick Jr. Favorites – Go Green!” is a fun DVD for the family.  You’re getting six full-length episodes for a good price and for parents or educators who are looking for content that deal with the environment, this is a DVD that will definitely entertain and educate the children. Topics touched upon are nature, animals, recycling, trees and more.

If there was one thing that I am a bit critical about is that with other children-targeted Earth Day DVD releases, there are some DVD-Rom content, games or some sort of special feature content included.  This release didn’t come with any content at all.  But then again, the other releases don’t come with six episodes either.  So, in a way, you’re getting six episodes from six popular shows from Nick Jr. for a pretty solid price.

So, for the most part, your young children should be entertained by this release.  All episodes are safe, so “Nick Jr. Favorites – Go Green!” is a DVD worth picking up if you want to teach children about Earth Day.
