Nebuta Float Appears at LA’s Nisei Week

For the first time in its 67-year history, Sunday’s Grand Parade for Los Angeles’ Nisei Week festival included a colorful Nebuta float.  The float is constructed of wood, colored paper, and over 600 lights.  It was led down the parade route by hundereds of dancers and musicians dressed in traditional Japanese costumes.  The starting time for the parade was pushed back from its usual start time so that the float would not be on the parade route until after sundown.  The Nisei Week Festival is the longest running ethnic festival in the U.S. and continues through August 26th.
