Morning Musume’s last few singles have been upbeat and enjoyable. I felt the dance tracks progressively gotten better since “One-Two-Three” and “Wakuteka Take a Chance”, with “Help me!!”, I really enjoyed the arrangement and to be truthful, part of me felt I should have waited and purchased the limited edition version because I want to see the music videos for both “Help me!!” and “Suki dakara zettaini yurusanai” because I enjoyed the songs so much. But for an upbeat dance track and solid vocals, “Help me!!” (Regular Edition A) is a pretty solid 52nd single from Morning Musume. Recommended!

Morning Musume is back!
And this time with their 52nd CD single titled “Help me!!” which features the debut of new member Sakura Oda and also a single that has become the first #1 for the idol group since 2009 with their 39th CD single “Shoganai Yume Oibito”.
“Help Me!!” was released with eight different versions of the single which include five regular editions and three limited editions of A, B and C which come with a DVD.
The version I will reviewing is Regular Edition A which comes with the track “Daisuki Dakara Zettai ni Yurusanai” featuring ninth generation member Riho Sayashi and new 11th generation member Sakura Oda.
The single comes with a bi-fold with an image of Riyo Sayashi and Sakura Oda on the front cover with the other nine Morning Musume members standing behind them and also a page with an individual shot of each member. While the other side features lyrics and production credits for the two tracks.
“Help me!!” is written and produced by Tsunku, arrangement by Kaoru Okubo and features Sayumi Michishige, Riho Sayashi and Chino for the chorus. The track is an upbeat dance track with cool beats and one of the more hypnotic dance numbers to come from the group in a long while and I love the vocals for this track. The song is actually quite sad. It’s about a girl who is being jilted by a guy and she is wondering why she is being left alone and why the person makes her feel sad. So, she tells him that she will leave far away and will he care. But she begs and will wait for him and she will do whatever she can to be with him, no matter what problems are happening in the relationship.
The second track is titled “Suki dakara zettaini Yurusanai” (which translates to “I won’t forgive because I love you”) and is performed by Riho Sayashi and Sakura Oda. Tsunku wrote the song and Kaoru Okubo arranged is responsible for the arrangement, keyboard and programming. Part of my interest in the Regular Edition A version of “Help me!!” was to hear new member Sakura Oda perform on a single for the first time. With an upbeat track, the song works very well between both performers. Riho Sayashi is known for her vocals but the high and low vocals between the two work very well in unison.
The song is a bit bitter as it’s about an upset girlfriend not so pleased when the guy she likes, messed around with another girl. She really wants to hate the guy and wants him to give back her tears. She’s so upset that she doesn’t even want to speak on the phone to him. She won’t forgive him because she loves him.
The third and final track is the instrumental version for “Help me!!”.
