[MANGA] Manga review “Sgt. Frog”

In a recent manga review for the Daily Yomiuri, Tom Baker wrote, “Foolish Pokopenian! That’s right, I’m talking to you. You, who will soon tremble in the ominous aura of Sgt. Frog. You, who will soon bow to the majestic might of Sgt. Frog. You–“”Oops, gotta go! There’s a synchronized swimming competition on TV.”

“Oh, well. Sgt. Frog, an occasionally fearless military leader from the planet Keron, probably would have conquered Pokopen (as he calls Earth) by now if he weren’t so easily distracted.”

“Named Keroro Gunso in Japanese, the character is the star of Mine Yoshizaki’s eponymous comedy manga series, the English translation of which is now in its 14th volume.”

“Keroro is the leader of a scouting party stranded on Earth when a Keronian invasion of our planet is temporarily called off. Lost and alone, he is adopted by a couple of latchkey kids in Tokyo. Fuyuki Hinata, 12, thinks having an alien in the house is way cool, but his big sister Natsumi takes a dim view of “that stupid frog” and tries to keep Keroro in line by forcing him to do all the household chores.”
