THE REVIEW:

When it comes to LEGO Marvel Superheroes properties, typically you often see a release of several sets to promote a film. From “The Avengers”, “Iron Man” and “Guardian of the Galaxy” films, there have been a few sets released prior or after a film’s release. But for Marvel’s “ANT-MAN”, there was only one release for the film. And if this will be the only LEGO “Ant-Man” release, there are numerous things to get excited about this set.

For one, you get a total of three LEGO minifigures which includes a Scott Lang/Ant-Man minifigure, a Dr. Hank Pym/Original Ant-Man minifigure and a Darren Cross/Yellowjacket minifigure.

Second, you get a large ant and activity scene with two mini-ants and third, you are paying only $19.99 for the entire set which is an amazing value for a LEGO Marvel Superheroes set.

So, let’s take a look at the LEGO minifigures first.

One of the first thing’ you’ll notice is that all three minifigures feature printing on both front and rear sides of their costume.

In addition, each of the characters heads have double printing as well, showing a happier side and angrier (or fearful side).

For Yellowjacket, included is an all black head, if you do not want his face showing through his helmet.

Yellowjacket’s primary suit armor is nicely done, but it does make the minifigure a little harder to balance, so I have him standing on the launch lever that comes with the unit.

But for the most part, I am happy with the three exclusive minifigures. But if one more figure of Hope van Dyne was included, to me, that would have made this a perfect set. But the fact that you get three minifigures included in a $19.99 set is an excellent value already.

Of course, the best thing of this set that captivated me was the Ant.

While arachnid LEGO vehicles have been made in previous sets, this ant is built from creating three sections as shown in the manual and what I loved are the two plastic wings included. The ant, after you put it together, looks quite awesome! And either Ant-Man can ride on top of it.

Included is a LEGO activity piece (trying to show LEGO pieces in miniature format, but of course, enlarged for the playset). The screws can be attached to the lever and launched at an enemy.

Stickers are included to put on top of the LEGO pieces and on the screws. While many AFOLs do not like stickers, I felt this set was the exception and was needed.

And last, a comic book is included with this set, although it doesn’t showcase LEGO Ant-Man, it does feature LEGO Ultimate Spider-Man.

Overall, the LEGO Marvel Superheroes Ant-Man set is a wonderful set because you get three figures, a huge ant and a playset which would usually drive the price up to $24.99, but instead, it’s being offered for $19.99.

Whether you are a fan of the “ANT-MAN” film or a LEGO collector who is often looking for unique sets or exclusive figures, or someone budget conscious and is wanting a LEGO set that is more bang for the buck, all will love this set!
