“Let’s Kill Ward’s Wife” has its moments of humor but its hard to combine immorality with sexual romance and sentimentality because it doesn’t make sense nor does it make audience members feel good about watching the film. The film is not for everyone but if you have a dark and warped sense of humor, then “Let’s Kill Ward’s Wife” is for you.

From actor Scott Foley (“Felicity”, “Scandal”, “The Unit”) comes an independent film that he wrote and directed titled “Let’s Kill Ward’s Wife”.
Foley’s directorial debut stars Patrick Wilson, Donald Faison, James Carpinello (“The Great Raid”, “Gangster Squad”, “The Punisher”), Dagmara Dominczyk (“The Count of Monte Cristo”, “The Immigrant”), Marika Dominczyk (“The 40-Year-Old-Virgin”, “Bagboy”), Amy Acker (“Angel, The Cabin in the Woods”, “Much Ado About Nothing”), Patrick Wilson (“The Conjuring”, “Insidious”, “Watchmen”), Nicollette Sheridan (“Desperate Housewives”, “Knots Landing”) and Greg Grunberg (“Heroes”, “Star Trek”, “Mission: Impossible III”).
The black comedy was made for $5 million was shot in 12 days limited to a camera and tripod.
And now “Let’s Kill Ward’s Wife” will be released on Blu-ray courtesy of Well Go USA in March 2015.
The dark comedy begins with a party for Ward’s (portrayed by Donald Faison) verbally abusive wife Stacy (portrayed by Dagmara Dominczyk). Everyone at the party can’t stand Stacy but they are in it for the support of Ward and his baby son.
Meanwhile, Tom (portrayed by Scott Foley) and his wife Gina (portrayed by Amy Acker) don’t have any romance in their marriage because he’s busy with work and he is being tempted by Robin Peters (portrayed by Nicollette Sheridan) to have a one night stand.
Meanwhile, actor David (portrayed by Patrick Wilson) is trying to get close to Stacy (portrayed by Dagmara Dominczyk), mother of his child.
As the guys prepare for their golf game, Stacy won’t let Ward hang out with his friends which upsets Tom, David and Ronnie (portrayed by James Carpinello) and the three joke around about killing Ward’s wife.
One day, as Robin calls Tom about having a romantic fling, Stacy hears the whole conversation and tries to mess with Tom about telling Gina about it. In the heat of rage, Tom slams Stacy’s face into a birthday cake and she ends up slipping and falling on her head. Hurt after falling, Tom chokes her to death and ends up killing Ward’s wife.
The friends end up looking towards David on how to dispose of the body, meanwhile Ward’s neighbor, a police officer named Bruce (portrayed by Greg Grunberg) is spying on them.

“Let’s Kill Ward’s Wife” is presented in 1080p High Definition. Because of the many outdoor scenes, the film looks much better outdoors and picture quality and lighting for this low-budget film is good. I didn’t notice any major banding or artifact issues during my viewing of the film.

“Let’s Kill Ward’s Wife” marks the debut of actor Scott Foley.  Bringing together friends and family to create a low budget black comedy, the film may make some laugh, while others will feel the film was just one big mess.
The film revolves a group of friend who can’t stand Ward’s wife, Stacy. She is verbally abusive to everyone and they don’t like her, to the point they joke around about killing Ward’s wife.
When Stacy starts to threaten Ward’s friend Tom, Tom does the unthinkable…he kill’s Ward’s wife.
And no one is sad at all. They are more concerned about how they can dispose her body and each share jokes and romance which gets better because Ward’s wife was killed.
It’s no doubt a dark comedy that one should not look for anything moral, nor should they go into the film expecting justice or redemption.
This is not that type of a film. It’s about a group of friends who take part in something bad and try to pull off the perfect crime.
So, while the beginning of the film, shows how crazy these friends are of pulling a murder off, the second half becomes to sentimental that it feels it doesn’t belong with the film. If you are going to go black comedy, don’t look back, don’t get preachy or sad about it.
And that’s the unfortunate dilemma of “Let’s Kill Ward’s Wife” of trying to make relationships succeed after a murder they took part in. And to include a storyline of a couple having better sex after the murder, or a couple being brought closer together after the murder, it just seems out of place with the entire film.
The Blu-ray comes with outtakes and a theatrical trailer. Picture quality s good thanks to the film being shot outdoors and audio is primarily front-channel driven as it is primarily dialogue and music-driven.
