JONTE is an Osaka-based music artist discovered in the audition “EXILE Vocal Battle Audition 2006 ~ASIAN DREAM~” in 2006. Because he is of Korean descent, he has international appeal with his music released in Japan, Korea and China. JONTE debuted in 2007 with the single “Sway” and to kick off 2009, he has released his fourth single “if” produced by EXILE’s ATSUSHI and NOBU.K.

Each of the tracks on “if” is definitely Valentine’s themed for this month as each track is a romantic ballad. The first track “if” is an R&B ballad and with ATSUSHI and NOBU.K’s presence on the single, it has that R&B flavor. The coupling track “Why?” features lyrics by Safari Natsukawa and music by Hiroshi Harukawa and also has an R&B style with its cool beats.

While the first two tracks are smooth R&B slow jams, the third track “A moment to remember” features lyrics by Goro Matsui and music by Michuru Oshima and is piano-driven, no R&B beats and pretty much a song that truly showcases JONTE’s vocals.

The remaining three tracks on the single are the instrumentals for the three vocal tracks.

The CD insert is a tri-fold featuring lyrics to all three songs while inserts include the usual Rhythm Zone information sheet, JONTE promotional and a photo of JONTE.

Overall, JONTE’s fourth single is a romantic single just in time for Valentine’s Day and you get three pretty cool, romantic and well-performed ballads. Definitely a single worth checking out!
