“ICarly: Season 2, Volume 3” is the largest iCarly volume yet with 15 episodes (inc. one extended episode and special), two movies plus the pilot episode of “T.U.F.F. Puppy”. If your children love “iCarly”, I have no doubt that they will love this DVD release. Entertaining, fun for the entire family!

Here are Carly, Sam, Freddie, Spencer, and Gibby coming to you LIVE to wrap up Season 2. This insane collection includes the first-ever iCarly Awards, Sam’s pageant girl days and, of course, the episode that left us all wanting more, “iSaved Your Life.” This DVD set includes 15 episodes and two TV movies! Now that calls for some random dancing!
Since 2007, “iCarly” has been a popular series for Nickelodeon. The series revolves around Carly Shay (played by Miranda Cosgrove) and her best friend Samantha Puckett (played by Jennette McCurdy) who are the host of their popular web show “iCarly” which is edited and directed by Freddie Benson (played by Nathan Kress). Most of the scenes are shot at the home of Carly, who lives with her older brother and legal guardian, Spencer (played by Jerry Trainor).
Created and executive produced by Dan Schneider (creator of series “Drake & Josh”, “Zoey 101”, “Kenan & Kel”, “All That”, “The Amanda Show”), “iCarly” is currently on their fourth season and earlier this year, the episode titled “iSaved Your Life” became the highest rated live action telecast in Nickelodeon history (with 11.2 million viewers) and the #1 telecast of all TV (cable and broadcast) that night. “iCarly” continues to be a hit for Nickelodeon as nearly five million viewers tune into the series each week.
Needless to say, the show is a big success for the cable network and now “iCarly: Season 2, Volume 3” is here!

DISC 1:
- EPISODE 48 – “iTwins†– Carly, Sam and Freddie want to interview an MMA fighter Jackson Colt but Freddie’s mom forbids him to go to an MMA fight and also Spencer forbids Carly from going as well. So, the three come up with an idea to find lookalikes to stand for them while they do the interview.
- EPISODE 53 – “iSpeed Date” – Carly is frustrated that she needs to find a new date for a popular school dance.
- EPISODE 54 – “iCarly Awards” – When Spencer accidentally makes one very large iCarly Award, he must find a way to make ten smaller statuettes for the “iCarly Awards”.
- EPISODE 55 – “iHave My Principals” – The superintendent of Seattle Schools fires Principal Franklin fr appearing on iCarly.
- EPISODE 56 – “iFind Lewbert’s Lost Love†– The iCarly gang discovers Lewbert’s personal items.
- EPISODE 57 – “iMove Out” – Freddie has had enough of his mother embarrassing him live on the iCarly show that he moves out.

- EPISODE 58-59 – “iQuite iCarly†– This film features the iCarly gang meeting Fleck and Dave, those who run the “Fleck and Dave Show”.   Meanwhile, Spencer tries to win a boat.

- EPISODE 62 – “iEnrage Gibby” – Freddie tries to help Gibby’s girlfriend Tasha find a gift for his birthday but instead, Tasha starts to fall for Freddie.
- EPISODE 60 – “iSaved Your Life” (Extended Version) – Carly nearly gets hit by a taco truck and is saved by Freddie who pushes her out of the way and injuring himself. Carly then develops a crush on him.

VIDEO:
“iCarly: Season 2, Volume 3” is presented in standard definition and in full screen. Picture quality is good considering there is one TV movie and four episodes included on the DVD. There is compression artifacting and edge enhancement but for the audience being targeted, I doubt many will be that picky over picture quality.
AUDIO & SUBTITLES:
“iCarly: Season 2, Volume 3” is presented in English stereo and dialogue and music is clear as it comes from the front channels. Dialogue is understandable and experienced no major problems during viewing. There are no subtitles but closed captions are included.

“iCarly: Season 2, Volume 3” comes with the following special features:
- Pilot Episode of T.U.F.F. Puppy – (23:55) The pilot episode of Nickelodeon’s latest animated series, “T.U.F.F. Puppy”.
- Meet Guppy Short – (2:03) Noah Munck (Gibby) introduces his real life brother Ethan Munck who plays the character Guppy. The cast of “iCarly” talks about working with Guppy.
- Best of Season 2 – (3:16) The cast talks about their favorite episodes from season 2.
My young son and his nephew are huge “iCarly” fans and they enjoy the various DVD’s released throughout the year. But these DVD releases are not in episodic order and are just a mix of episodes from a season of “iCarly”, so for some fans of the show, those preferring to have all episodes in order typically wait for the season DVD sets to be released.
The problem is, these season sets are released a long time after each other. The first volume of season two was released in August 2009, the second volume released nearly a year and a half later in Jan. 2011 and now, here we are with volume 3, released just a few months after volume 2 which I found surprising. And this is probably the largest “iCarly” volume yet with a total of 15 episodes plus two movies and also you get the pilot episode of “T.U.F.F. Puppy”, that’s a pretty good deal for under $20.
With “Season 2, Volume 3”, you get the two “iCarly” movies “”iPsycho”, “iQuite ICarly”, the extended version of “iSaved Your Life” plus the special episode “iBloop” (the only “iCarly” episode that doesn’t feature the characters but is hosted by the actual talent who play the characters). It’s important to note that these episodes, while considered as part of a longer season two, many “iCarly” fans have considered episode 51 and onwards as season 3.
Each of these episodes are quite fun to watch and as an adult, the quality of the shows were much more in tune with today’s pop culture than some of the shows that I grew up with. If anything, these are all enjoyable episodes that deal with teen issues, friendship and three teens having fun with their online TV show.
As for the parents who are wondering if the episodes are safe for the children, depending on their age, there is no major violence in the show with the exception of “iFix a Pop Star†in which a high-tempered (and violent) pop star throws a fork and it lands on Freddie’s chest. Granted, this may be too violent for some young children, so parental guidance is suggested for this one episode.Other than that, this series is pretty safe for your children, granted…they may pick up terminology which they probably don’t understand or know what those words mean.
In the episode “iQuit iCarlyâ€, there is a scene where both Carly and Sam walk out on a scaffold, out their building window and then trouble comes and Carly is left hanging from the scaffold. Granted, parents should reinforce the fact that children should keep out of windows high above the ground to begin with but that is probably the only thing I can think of that may be problematic for some parents.
You will also see Freddie kissing Carly, Freddie kissing Sam’s twin sister, etc. So, although I do call this a children’s DVD, there are some more non-children type of themes that parents should know about. Personally, the series and episodes featured on this DVD are really nothing for parents to worry about but if the descriptions of those scenes that I have mentioned above causes concern, especially if you were considering of buying this for a 5-9 year old child, then parental guidance is suggested.
Overall, “iCarly: Season 2, Volume 3” was an entertaining DVD set featuring 10 episodes and two movies. Again, my young son and my interview absolutely loves this show and he enjoyed watching the episodes (again) on DVD. And if your children are as crazy for the show as they are, I’m sure they will enjoy this DVD set.
