For music artist Haruna Luna, her life has been rather intriguing to follow.

A big anime and music fan, by the time she entered junior high, she became obsessed with gothic lolita manga characters and Western clothes.  By the third year of junior high, Haruna Luna was auditioning for the Internet radio program of “Renta Magica” and won the opportunity to perform the opening theme.

And from that point on, her life would immediately change.  Haruna Luna would become an imoto-kei amateur model for “Kera” fashion magazine and modeling for “Marui” but with anime as her passion, she would become popular for competing and becoming a finalist for the fourth All-Japan Anime Song Grand Prix.

With this new found popularity, she was signed to SME Records and now here we are with her first CD single “Sora wa Takaku Kaze wa Utau (which translates to “The Sky is High and the Wind Sings”).  And to make things even better is the fact that the song was used as an ending theme for the anime series “Fate/Zero”.

The single I am reviewing is the regular version with no DVD.  Insert is a bifold with lyrics and production credits with Haruna Luna on the front cover in front of a painting wearing a black lolita outfit.

The single begins with “Sora wa Takaku Kaze wa Utau”, a mid-tempo ballad is about a person who has lived a life of being in sorrow and a life full of pain, until she found someone who touched her incomplete heart.  And now in love with this person together they can find happiness and joy while the sky is high and the wind sings.

The second track is titled “LOVE TEARS” and is an upbeat, synth driven pop song.  But as upbeat it may sound, the song is actually quite sad as it is about an ended relationship and one searching for memories of when they were a couple.  And now one person has a feeling of wanting to hold that person really tightly.  But it won’t come true and it will only happen in a dream, so LOVE TEARS will continue to fall.

The third track is titled “I wanna Denji Teki Do” (which translates to “I Wanna Do Electromagnetic”) and is a cool upbeat pop song with an ’80s style pop beat.  It’s not a song that can easily be translated as it is more of a feeling.  The song is a love song about loving someone and wondering if it’s a dream.  And a question is constantly asked of “Where Are We?” and realizing that it’s not a dream, a dream that never ends.   And a repetition of “I wanna do”…

The final fourth track is the instrumental version of “Sora wa Takaku Kaze wa Utau”.

Overall, this is a solid debut for Haruna Luna.  As always, I’m not going to praise an artist for their first single alone and want to see how she is promoted musically for her next upcoming singles.  But for now, I will say that I see a lot of potential with Haruna Luna and I look forward to listening to more singles from her in the near future.
