Join Diego, his sister Alicia, and their friends all over the world as they race to the rescue of animals in trouble! Help them reach Antarctica to help some penguins! Save a Bengal Tiger in India and thirsty camels in Egypt! Dive under the sea to save a Humpback Whale, and swing through the Latin American rainforest to help a deer, a hawk, and even those silly Bobo Brothers (and their spider monkeys sisters too)! ¡Al rescate!

I can easily remember how my son would watch “Dora the Explorer” and really enjoyed the series. But if there was a character that he did enjoy watching, it was Diego, the 8-year-old adventurer who has protected the rainforests and sure enough, in 2005, Nickelodeon gave Diego his own show titled “Go Diego Go!”.

And here we are with a new volume featuring many adventures of Diego saving animals all over the world in a new DVD titled “Go Diego Go!: Diego Saves the World!”.

Similar to “Dora the Explorer”, “Go Diego Go!” is a series that helps children learn about animals (in this DVD – giant pandas, koalas, lemurs and beavers), animal and environmental conservation, Spanish language skills, matching and physical motion.

The episodes featured on this DVD are:

  • Diego the Hero! – Help Diego and Baby Jaguar help Alicia and a few penguins travel from the rainforest to the icy waters.
  • Cotton-Top Tamarin Cave Rescue – Diego is in the Columbian rainforest where he needs to rescue a cotton-top tamarin.
  • Bengal Tiger Makes a Wish– Help reunite Benji the Bengal Tiger with his mother after a rainstorm.  Diego needs your help to find the wishing tree.
  • Diego Saves Baby Humpback Whale – In this episode, a baby humpback whale has beached on a rocky island.  Help Diego and Tuga the Leatherback Sea Turtle to help the whale.
  • Jorge the Little Hawk Learns to Migrate – Jorge the Hawk needs to migrate.  Can you help him?
  • Egyptian Camel Adventure – Help Diego, Medina and Jamal the Camel on an Egyptian journey.

VIDEO & AUDIO:

“Go Diego Go!: Diego Saves the World!” is presented in full screen and in Dolby Digital English stereo. Animation features vibrant colors and dialogue is clear and understandable. Picture quality is good as there are some animated shows that are newer than others.  But overall, this is for the children and the picture and audio quality should be satisfactory.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

“Go Diego Go!: Diego Saves the World!” comes with no special features.

“Go Diego Go!” is a fantastic series for the children and a very good DVD (especially on long commutes) in order to help children with their decision skills but also teaching them about animals, the environment but also Spanish language skills, matching and physical motion.

The theme for this DVD is pretty much Diego saving animals all over the world.  Joined with his sister Alicia or other animals from different continents, children get to learn a little about geography as well, in this latest volume.

If anything, it was very good for Nickelodeon to have an animated series on a boy adventurer and sure enough, my son who grew up with the series absolutely loved the show. I was surprised to see six episodes included in “Go Diego Go!: Diego Saves the World” as opposed to the four episodes that these volumes tend to feature.  So, you’re definitely getting your bang for the buck with a total of six episodes included on this DVD and I hope this will be a continuing trend for Nickelodeon/Paramount.

Granted, there are no special features in this release and since most Nickelodeon releases tend to not have them anyway, I’m glad you get two additional episodes.

So, for the most part, your young children should be entertained by this release. “Go Diego Go!: Diego Saves the World!” is entertaining for the children, family fun episodes that parents can watch with their children or children can watch alone and learn from.  If you are looking for an educational and safe DVD for your child/children, you can’t go wrong with “Go Diego Go!”.
