DVD REVIEW:

I remember when I first heard about Galaxy Quest.  I never gave it a thought in the movie theaters but until I read the book by Terry Bisson, I realized that this story is pretty cool!  First, I am a Trekker but not hardcore.  I liked what I read about the book and how it parallels the Star Trek actors at cons routine.  Nevertheless, by the time I was so pumped up to watch this film, it was too late, a few months have passed.  But luckily I found out the DVD was coming out a few weeks later and I watched this movie with a smile on a face from beginning to end.

The movie is very funny.  Some people might find it corny but I found it pretty funny and interesting to watch.  I liked how their was a large variety of cast members and each did a very good job.  I didn’t catch it at first but the guy who plays the head of the Thermians is from the show “Just Shoot Me” and what about Sigourney Weaver.  Wow!  She looks great in this film!  The whole movie was so enjoyable.  I was having a lot of fun watching it!

The video was well done in this movie and the colors were brilliant.  Especially in the scenes shot in Utah pitting Taggart vs. the rock monster.  Only one scene which I found as a mistake was when the ship was being piloted in the beginning and was about to crash, you see a small blur during Tommy “Laredo” Webber’s scene.  Otherwise the video was great.

The sound was very good as well.  Heck, you can test your system out on the menu itself.

The extras.  This DVD is full of them.  The “On Location in Space” mini documentary was pretty cool to watch.  I’m not sure if this special aired on the Sci-Fi Channel or what but it was entertaining.  The added feature of the Thermian language in the audio selection was interesting.  Especially so funny when you hear how each actor interacts.  Very funny Thermian dialogue.  The deleted scenes were cool to watch and you’ll understand why they were removed after watching them.  The extras includes a trailer and theatrical trailers for other movies.  So, there are many extras and this whole DVD package is simply too cool to pass up!  Highly recommended!  Make sure you check out the Galaxy Quest website at http://www.galaxyquest.com.
