G-DRAGON, one of the top-selling artists in the world and member of iconic Korean pop-rap phenomenon BIGBANG, has released his new album Kwon Ji Yong. This release marks his first solo album in four years, following the announcement of his third solo tour G-DRAGON 2017 WORLD TOUR, ACT â…¢, M.O.T.T.E. The North American run kicks off in Seattle on July 11th and will finish on July 30th in Toronto and has already sold out at some stops. Full list of tour dates below. With the album’s release, G-DRAGON has also shared a pared down visual for his title track off the album, “Untitled, 2014”, featuring rich ambient colors and lighting that perfectly tie in to the soulful and emotive ballad.
The 5 track album showcases a newer and softer side to G-DRAGON. It’s far removed from his previous avant-garde approach and instead features a more personal side as himself, “Kwon”, while giving listeners a glimpse into his soft vulnerability as he reflects on his life, career, successes and reminisces on past love. All of which is done throughout the entire album in different styles ranging from hip-hop and R&B to Kwon singing, which is something he has never done before on his singles as G-DRAGON. The album is now available across all DSP’s and will be available for purchase on June 19th as a USB version. Limited copies of “KWON JI YONG MAKING COLLECTION”-a photo book containing pictures of the “ACT III, M.O.T.T.E” concert in LA, the making of the music video, and the album cover shooting-will also soon be made available commercially. Since its release the album has swept all of the major charts in Korea. The title track “Untitled, 2014” is currently No.1 on all the major charts. The song has since become No.1 on the iTunes charts of 39 countries, making him the first Korean artist to do so and has already beaten Coldplay and Ed Sheeran’s latest releases. G-DRAGON has also taken the No.1 spot on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart. Proving once more that G-DRAGON’s latest release is definitely a hit.
