Free Euna Lee and Laura Ling – J!-ENT Photo Gallery (June 24, 2009)

On June 24th, a peaceful gathering was held in San Francisco in support of Current TV’s news editor Euna Lee and reporter Laura Ling.

While both were working on a story in regards to the trafficking of women in Asia and were filming near the border of China and North Korea.  The two accidentally entered into North Korea and were arrested by border guards on March 17th while the camera operator and their local guide escaped.

Reporters Without Borders and other sources have said that the North Korean border guards crossed over Chinese territory and detained the women.

North Korea accused the reporters of “hostile acts” of trying to illegally enter their country and the two journalists were sentenced to 12-years hard labor and now the families of the two journalists have spoken out and are trying to do what they can to free the two journalists.

Meanwhile, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has called the charges “baseless” and has been working all channels for their release.

The family has express concerned as Ling has a serious medical condition and Lee who is the mother of a 4-year-old.
