A charming and entertaining film from filmmaker Ken Scott, “Delivery Man” provides Vince Vaughn another comedy with a lot of heart and for the most part, without the banal idiotic humor.

In this heartwarming comedy, underachiever David Wozniak (Vince Vaughn) learns he’s actually an overachiever — he’s fathered 533 children via donations made twenty years earlier! The film would star Vince Vaughn (“Wedding Crashers”, “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”, “The Internship”), Cobie Smulders (“Avengers Assemble”, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”, :”How I Met Your Mother”), Chris Pratt (“Wanted”, “Parks and Recreation”, “Moneyball”), Bobby Moynihan (“Saturday Night Live”, “The Invention of Lying”) and more!
A success in the box office “Delivery Man” earned over $51 million and now the film will be released on Blu-ray in March 2013.
“Delivery Man” revolves around David Wozniak (portrayed by Vince Vaughn), an undependable man who has not had much good going in his life.
A meat delivery man for the famly meat business, David is trying to find ways of making money, especially since he owes $80,000 to a group of thugs.
From getting involved in illegal business to growing weed in his apartment, dating a police officer named Emma (portrayed by Cobie Smulders) who is upset with him because he stopped comunicating with her.
Compounded by the fact that he failed to deliver the basketball uniforms for his team, David knows that he has disappointed a lot of people in his life.
When Emma tells David that she is pregnant, she also tells him that because he has no job or direction, she prefers to raise the child on her own, without him.
Feeling dejected, when he comes home, he is greeted by an attorney for a sperm bank that despite the condition of anonimity that he signed over 20-years ago for sperm donated long ago (which he did to make money) under the name Starbuck.
His sperm has produced 533 children and 142 of those children have filed a class action lawsuit to force the fertility clinic to reveal who the identity of “Starbuck” really is.
His lawyer friend Brett (portrayed by Chris Pratt), knows that David needs the money, so he offers to defend David to protect his anonimity but also give David a chance to win money from the lawsuit against the fertility clinic.
But when David starts to research how his children had become and if they take after him, he starts to learn that one has become a professional basketball player, another has become a struggling actor, another one who is trying to be drug free and more.
And while Brett gets frustrated that David is trying to meet his own children and risks losing the lawsuit, one of the children finds out Starbuck’s true identity. But will he make David’s identity public?
Meanwhile, David wants to become a father for his newborn and wants to change his life for the best. But can he do it?

“Delivery Man” is presented in 1080p High Definition (2:40:1 aspect ratio). The film looks great on Blu-ray as a lot of the scenes are shot outdoors. Outdoor scenes are vibrant, skin tones are natural with very good detail on closeups. I didn’t notice any major artifacts or banding during my viewing of the film.

While the film primarily is dialogue driven, their are moments in the film which have crowds such as David watching a basketball game and hearing the lossless audio coming alive from the surround channels.
Subtitles are in English SDH, French and Spanish.

A charming and entertaining film from filmmaker Ken Scott, “Delivery Man” provides Vince Vaughn another comedy with a lot of heart and for the most part, without the banal idiotic humor.
The film’s charm lays in the fact that Vaughn’s character of David Wozniak, is a man who has made a mess of his life but wants to improve it. The news that his girlfriend is pregnant gives him the opportunity to change his life.
And after learning that 142 children are wanting to find out who their biological father, the true donor is, it’s David who wants to learn about the children who filed the class action lawsuit and see how these children are in their young adult years.
Some children have shown they have become a success in their professional career (one becomes a professional basketball player), another becomes a persistant and struggling actor trying to make it and he sees the perservarance of these children that has his genes who have succeeded, but also others who haven’t but also others who were born with disabilities.
And as these children have an impact on his life and wanting him to change and become a better person and possibly a father for his unborn child, can he do it?
Picture quality for the film is very good on Blu-ray. Colors are vibrant and I saw no issues with banding or artifacts. The lossless soundtrack was appropriate for this film as the film is dialogue driven. And you get a few special features included.
Overall, “Delivery Man” is a charming and entertaining comedy worth watching!
