Larry David is back, once again landing himself in one self-inflicted faux pas after another in Season 11.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the DVD, which I am reviewing in this blog post. The opinions I share are my own.

Over 20 years ago, the first episode of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” aired its first episode in October 2000.

The series created by Larry David (known for producing “Seinfeld”) has been going strong since then, with a few breaks in 2006, 2010, 2012-2016, 2018-2019.  But the series made its return with its tenth season in January 2020.

The story revolves around a semi-retired producer named Larry David (portrayed by Larry David), who is a idosyncratic and curmudgeonly character. He offends many and when he thinks someone is lying to him, he will go off on them.  And often gets trapped in situations of misunderstanding or something of his own doing.

Larry was formerly married to Cheryl David (portrayed by Cheryl Hines), but she is now dating, Ted Danson (portrayed by Ted Danson).  A platonic friend of Cheryl’s, which David has always been suspicious of and often argues with her.

Living with Larry is Leon Black (portrayed by J.B. Smoove), a man who is blunt and confrontational and the two remain friends.

With season 11, Larry and his manager Jeff Greene (portrayed by Jeff Garlin) are trying to get a show about Larry’s life made into a television show but kicking off the eleventh season is a robber who has stolen from David’s home, runs and drowns inside Larry’s pool.  But the police said that Larry could be at fault for the robber’s death because he didn’t put a gate around his pool, which is required by law.

But to make matters worse, the brother of the robber, Marcos (portrayed by Marques Ray), blackmails Larry to hire his daughter Maria Sofia (portrayed by Keyla Monterroso Mejia) to be on his upcoming show, even though she has terrible acting skills.

Meanwhile, Larry tries to find ways to repeal the law in regards of having gates around pools and may have a way, and that is to woo and seduce city council member, Irma Kostroski (portrayed by Tracey Ullman). Will he become successful?

The following is a spoilerless summary of each episode in season eleven:

  • Episode 101 – “The Five-Foot Fence” – A robber tries to run away from Larry’s home and ends up drowning in a pool and the robber’s brother, blackmails Larry into hiring his talentless daughter, Maria Sofia, for Larry’s Netflix show.
  • Episode 102 – “Angel Muffin” – Larry is trying to get actor Dylan O’Brien to play Young Larry, meanwhile Larry takes Leon’s dates dog in hopes to entice Dylan to joining his show, since he is an animal lover.
  • Episode 103 – “The Mini Bar” – Jeff and Susie throw a dinner party, meanwhile Larry asks Cheryl if she can create an audition tape for Maria Sofia.
  • Episode 104 – “The Watermelon” – Larry accidentally spills his drink on a KKK klansman’s clothes and wants to do good by having it cleaned. Meanwhile, Larry wants to take Woody Allen to visit the Klansman’s farm to pretend its his ranch.
  • Episode 105  “IRASSHAIMASE!” – When Larry has lunch with Jeff and Freddy at a Japanese restaurant, Larry offends the sushi chefs when he starts using the greeting Irrashaimase.
  • Episode 106  – “Man Fights Tiny Woman” – When Larry’s chauffer offers to carry his bags from the airport to the car, he doesn’t want her to carry his stuff because she’s small and doesn’t think she can lift it.
  • Episode 107 – “Irma Kostroski” – Larry tries to woo councilwoman Irma Kostroski in order to repeal the pool ordinance.
  • Episode 108 – “What Have I Done?” – Jeff reveals to Larry that he is having an affair with the assistant of the Head of Hulu, meanwhile Larry goes on a date with Irma and meets her daughter.
  • Episode 109 – “Igor, Gregor, & Timor” – Jeff tells Larry that he wants her to repeal the fence around pool ordinance.  Irma agrees if he allows her to have vaginal rejuvenation surgery.
  • Episode 110 – “The Mormon Advantage” – Irma gives Larry an ultimatum, her or Leon.

When it comes to TV series, I feel that “Curb Your Enthusiasm” is such a delightful and hilarious series that continues to stay strong and remain consistent.  Bringing viewers more of what they come to expect from Larry David and crew!

And the eleventh season does not disappoint.

From Larry trying to get a show made, but when a robbery at his home and the robber dying in a pool without a fence around it, he is blackmailed by the robber’s brother and must hire Maria Sofia in a role of his upcoming series.

Meanwhile, wanting the fence around the pool ordinance repealed, he has to get councilwoman, Irma Kostrosky on his side.

Larry David does a great job playing the character who doesn’t care if he offends people.  From him trying to insult a widow, trying to yell “Irraishaimase!” louder than the Japanese chefs, to wanting his friend’s last sprinkling water from the fridge and getting upset if things don’t go his way.

Larry David has always been great playing this role for “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and he and each episode of season 11 are just magnificent.

But one has to give their hands up to actress Keyla Monterroso Mejia, who plays the role as talentless actress Maria Sofia.

A girl who tends to have her own acting style and likes to dance speaking her lines.  But of course, Larry gets his ex-wife Cheryl involve to help her with her acting and make an audition tape.

The other big actress is to see the comedian Tracey Ullman, play the role of Irma Kostrosky.  From her air bubble under her boob to Larry David having to woo her despite being repulsed by her, Tracey does a great job of playing the role of Irma and seeing her and Larry David act and play off towards each other is fantastic and hilarious!

If anything, “Curb Your Enthusiasm” is still one of the more hilarious longtime comedy programs to catch on television and I absolutely loved this latest eleventh season!   Definitely recommended!
