Classic Hollywood – Marx Bros. at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre (1933)

The following photo in my collection is of the legendary family comedy act, the Marx Brothers putting their handprints at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre on February 17, 1933.  Sid Grauman can be seen behind the Marx Brothers (from L-R: Harpo, Groucho, Zeppo and Chico). (a big thank you to Sabrina Ciszewski for identifying this photo)

It’s interesting to note that the first concrete handprints began in 1927 with silent stars Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks as the first to do their handprints on April 30th 1927. But the tradition was supposedly started by silent star Norma Talmadge who accidentally stepped on the wet cement in front of the theatre.
