BRISTOL PALIN TO MAKE HER FIRST GUEST APPEARANCE ON “THE VIEW,” LIVE, WEDNESDAY, MAY 5

Bristol Palin, the eldest daughter of Todd and Sarah Palin, who has often been a topic of conversation among the hosts of ABC’s “The View,” is confirmed to make her first guest appearance on the show, live, WEDNESDAY, MAY 5 (11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, ET) on the ABC Television Network. In July Palin will play herself during a guest spot on ABC Family’s “The Secret Life of the American Teenager.”

Palin, now an abstinence spokesperson, will be promoting The Candie’s Foundation, a non-profit organization hosting numerous events and launching new multi-media campaigns aimed at preventing teenage pregnancy in honor of National Day to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, May 5. The foundation is introducing a free 30-second “Crying Baby” iPhone app featuring a crying baby that cannot be turned off. The app, ending with taglines such as “Now imagine this in the middle of the night,” is aimed at educating teens that a baby is a lifelong commitment. They are issuing a call to action on May 5 to download the app and are aiming to get 100,000 teens to download “Crying Baby.” On May, from 1:00-2:00 p.m., The Candie’s Foundation will host “The Harsh Truth: Teen Moms Tell All,” a panel discussion at the Lighthouse International Conference Center. The town hall style meeting will be moderated by Dr. Drew Pinsky. The panel will feature teen moms, including Bristol Palin, Maci and Farrah; former cast members from MTV’s Teen Mom; and Grecia and Brianda, and teen moms from Redwood City, CA. They will also debut a new television PSA today entitled “Back Talk Baby.” The new PSA takes a humorous approach to reach teens by featuring a talking baby asking his teen mom why she thinks she can go out with her friends and leave him at home. Earlier this year the foundation released a PSA in which Bristol Palin appeared with her son, Tripp, and addressed the difficulties of being a teen mom. The PSA campaigns will appear nationally in schools on Channel One and MTV.

Palin began dating Levi Johnston in 2005. On September 1, 2008, the opening of the Republican Convention, it was announced that Palin was pregnant and engaged to Johnston, the father of her child. Their son, Tripp was born on December 27, 2008. She denied that her mother’s pro-life stance had influenced her decision to give birth and raise her son. They ended their engagement in March 2009 and a custody dispute arose.
