ARMY STAFF SGT. SALVATORE GIUNTA, THE FIRST LIVING RECIPIENT OF THE MEDAL OF HONOR IN NEARLY 40 YEARS, TO VISIT CBS’s “LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN”, WEDNESDAY, NOV. 24

Army Staff Sgt. Salvatore Giunta, who became the first living recipient in 40 years to be awarded the Medal of Honor, the United States military’s highest honor, will visit the LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN, Wednesday, Nov. 24 (11:35 PM-12:37 AM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

In a ceremony at the White House on Tuesday, Nov. 16, President Obama awarded Staff Sgt. Giunta the Medal of Honor for his heroic efforts in Afghanistan three years ago, putting himself in the line of fire in October 2007 to try and save his squadmates and to protect and comfort a dying soldier after they were ambushed in the Korengal Valley. Staff Sgt. Giunta is the first living service member to receive the Medal of Honor for action in any war since Vietnam.
