Danny (Rob Lowe) doesn’t want to get serious.  Demi Moore doesn’t want to get used.  Together, they’re an unforgettable couple in the sexy, contemporary comedy, About Last Night….  After drinks at a favorite Chicago hang-out, Danny Martin (Lowe) and Debbie Sullivan (Moore) head to Danny’s place to indulge in the predictable single’s quest–the one-night stand.  Their affair is casual, sensual, and supposedly over until something surprising happens.  They want to see each other again.  It’s the start of an intense relationship that irritates Danny’s rowdy best friend (James Belushi) and astounds Debbie’s cynical buddy/roomie (Elizabeth Perkins), who do everything possible to break them up. But, Danny and Debbie wind up living together, and amidst the daily drudge of domestic life, they begin to realize that making love is easy, saying “I love you” more difficult, and being in love the hardest of all.  Based on David Mamet’s Obie Award-winning play, Sexual Perversity in Chicago, About Last Night… is an insightful, provocative and often funny look at romance in the 80’s.

DVD REVIEW:

A story that many couples can related to.  All about sex, no communication.  I think many guys would call this a “chick flick” and many women might call this an awesome movie.

I remember when I was watching the DVD version.  My girlfriend said that she saw this movie four times and her sister even more.  Perhaps it was because of the popularity of Rob Lowe in the early-80’s.  Maybe it is just a good love story.

I never saw this movie before.  She says, “What do you mean you never saw this movie?”.  Well, I was a young teen at the time and now when I watch this movie, some words said, especially about the ultimate three words of “I Love You”, I can’t help to glance over my shoulder to see if she is watching me.

That’s the interesting thing about of this movie.  A situation that many couples have lived through and many of you can see many things in common with yourself through the characters of Danny (Lowe) and Debbie (Moore).  So, nevertheless, this movie is pretty good but it doesn’t near the quality of a storyline such as my favorite romantic comedies such as “When Harry Met Sally” or “Sleepless in Seattle”, but this is one of those movies featuring the Brat Pack that we grew up watching in the 80’s.

The video quality is pretty good and the audio is good.  No major special effects of course.  This is a dialogue movie all the way.  As for the DVD extra’s, you get the trailer for Demi Moore’s three movies “About Last Night…”, “The Juror” and “A FEW GOOD MEN”.  They included a wide screen version and full screen version but all DVD’s should have trailers, different languages, subtitles and wide or full screen formats.  Nobody counts those as extras anymore.  So, the fact that this movie is pretty good and has other trailers, saves this DVD from a F or D rating.

“About Last Night…”, It’s about dating, romantic couples and their meddling friends.
