A Storybook Christmas (2019) (a J!-ENT Digital HD Review)

“A Storybook Christmas” is a good, Christmas telefilm. I liked the surprise reveal (well, I actually guessed it early on) but it’s a holiday film worth checking out!

If event planner Celeste Everett (Ali Liebert) is going to save her business and give her niece a happy Christmas season, she is going to need help. When the nanny she hires turns out to be a man (Jake Epstein), Celeste surprisingly realizes she may have also found Christmas love for herself.

We are now on Day 34 of the holiday film marathon and I am watching “A Storybook Christmas”, which aired on Lifetime Television in 2019.

The film is directed by Curtis Crawford and co-written by Jennifer Edwards and Amy Katherine Taylor, the film stars Ali Liebert (“Bomb Girls”, “Ten Days in the Valley”), Jake Epstein (“Degrassi: The Next Generation”, “Designated Survivor”, “Suits”), Habree Larratt (“Orphan Black”, “Bellevue”), Victoria Maria, Samantha De Benedet, Bradley Hamilton and more.

The film introduces us to event planner Celeste Everette, successful, busy and lives her life to what is on her schedule. But always makes her niece Finley (portrayed by Habree Larratt) her priority after Celeste’s parents were killed in an accident and Celeste wanting to be there for Finley, as her sister had done. Her demanding boss Hanna Duvall (portrayed by Stephanie Moore) wants to create a storybook Christmas to expand their children’s division for Duvall Publishing. But wanting her to try hard to bring the popular children’s author, Marshall Graham, as a guest of honor to the Christmas event.

Celeste wants to make time with Finley and her boyfriend Brandon (portrayed by Bradley Hamilton) but knowing this Christmas project is going to be super important, she needs help and so she calls to find a nanny last minute through the Nanny Company owned by Jessica Haldway (portrayed by Samantha De Benedet).

Jessica has no nanny but there is one person she can count on and that is her brother Taylor (portrayed by Jake Epstein) to be Finley’s Nanny.

Taylor is a bit shocked because how tight Celeste is with Finley’s schedule and how she has everything on schedule with barely enough time for Finley to have fun.

And while Taylor does a great job with spending time with Finley, including fun time, unfortunately, when she walks in with the two having a small, fun food fight, Celeste is not so happy and wants Jessica to replace him. But Jessica tells Celeste that there is no other nanny’s available and that she trusts her brother of being her nanny, so Celeste gives him another chance.

But with Taylor at home with the family? Would this prove to be a positive or a negative for Celeste? Especially with her boyfriend, Brandon and her work schedule?

“A Storybook Christmas” is a fun holiday film. While I enjoyed it, there were times that I felt Celeste was difficult and as for Taylor, I wasn’t sure why he became attracted to her because if anything, her way around him is sometimes like she looks down on him until we get to see how things work out in the end.

But if anything, “A Storybook Christmas” is a good, Christmas telefilm. I liked the surprise reveal (well, I actually guessed it early on) but it’s a holiday film worth checking out!
