She makes it her Christmas mission to get Charlie into the holiday spirit and appreciate the family he has. As Christmas nears, will Gwen be able to win over Charlie with her personal touch and help him re-discover what’s important at Christmas? Meredith Hagner, Travis Milne, Beverley Mitchell, Anna Van Hooft, Anthony Bolognese star. (2015)

It’s day 32 of my holiday film marathon and today’s film is the Lifetime Television’s 2015 holiday telefilm “A Gift Wrapped Christmas”.

Directed by Lee Friedlander (“Babysitter’s Blackbook”, “Good Girls”) and written by Barbara Kymlicka (“Twisted”, “Winter Castle”) and stars Meredith Hagner (“Search Party”, “Hits”, “Irrational Man”), Travis Milne (“Rookie Blue”, “Rogue”), Anna Van Hooft (“Flash Gordon: A Modern Space Opera”, “Warcraft”, “Fringe”), Anthony Bolognese, Dolores Drake (“The Professor”, “Say It Isn’t So”), Beverley Mitchell (“7th Heaven”, “Saw II”) and Dave Collette (“You Me Her”) and more.

The film revolves around professional personal shopper Gwen (portrayed by Meredith Hagner) assigned to take over a co-worker’s client’s shopping needs during the holidays.

Gwen is a person with a free-spirit, fun attitude and has a taste for fashion and style. But after work, she lives with her sister Stephanie (portrayed by Beverley Mitchell) and her husband Roy (portrayed by Dave Collette), trying to save money.

The client Charlie Baker (portrayed by Travis Milne) is her company’s biggest clients and is an executive who has immersed himself with work since the death of his wife.

His son Owen (portrayed by Anthony Bolognese) wants to spend more time with his son, but Charlie keeps telling him next time, because he’s so busy. He also happens to date Victoria (portrayed by Anna Van Hooft) who is more into power and making a lot of money.

When Gwen meets Charlie, to her surprise, he is a person who is busy with work and tends to have people buy his workers the same thing over and over, such as his secretary’s collection of coffee mugs.

But while taking over Charlie’s shopping needs, Gwen who has a taste of what her client’s like, does something different than her predecessor by buying things that are much more appreciated but also trying to change Charlie’s wardrobe, to add more color instead of the usual dark colors that he is used to.

While Charlie never asked for this, Gwen believes he should try something different, meanwhile the gifts which Gwen has purchased for clients have received big compliments and also leading him to business opportunities because of it.

And when she decorates his office with Christmas decorations (without Charlie knowing) and meets Charlie’s son for the first time, who loves Christmas and instantly he bonds to Gwen.

And as Gwen introduces Charlie to new things, he starts to realize how much happiness she brings to him, his son and everyone. And finds himself possibly falling for her.

And the same for Gwen, but she doesn’t want to fall in love knowing Charlie has a girlfriend.

For the most part, I have to say that “A Gift Wrapped Christmas” is a delightful romantic comedy. There is something fresh and fun with Meredith Hagner’s acting that is so different from anyone I have seen in a Christmas telefilm. The role calls for a person who loves fashion and style and tries to bring a personal touch to her clients, but at the same time, she’s a kind-hearted person, vibrant in attitude and cheerful, and it’s the way she delivers her role that makes Gwen come alive. She did a great job!

Also, Travis Milne as the workaholic Charlie Baker who seemed cold at first, but that wall of ice gives way courtesy of Gwen’s positive energy and seeing him change throughout the film is quite cool.

I absolutely found this film to be so fun and entertaining, “A Gift Wrapped Christmas” gets a thumbs up!
