In preparation for the City Tournament, Seishun Academy’s team captain Kunimitsu Tezuka decides to hold intra-squad games. As Seishun has beaten St. Rudolph, it’s now another break before their next tournament matchup.
But a ninth grader named Jin from Yamabuki Junior High has come to Seishun Academy, beats up on one of the players in search of Ryoma and smashing rocks into his face injuring him. A new tennis rivalry has begun.
Meanwhile, practice at Seishun Academy has become even more competitive as this time, Ryoma must take on Shusuke Fujii in a singles matchup. Who will win?

What is “The Prince of Tennis”?
In 1999, tennis player and manga artist Takeshi Konomi created a series known as “Tennis no Ojisama”.
Published in Shueisha’s “Weekly Shonen Jump” in July 1999, the series became one of the most popular sports manga series created and would eventually lead to an anime series adaptation by Trans Arts and Nihon Ad Systems & TV Tokyo.
Suffice to say, the series became an incredible hit and popular media franchise which would lead to video games and more!
As the tennis tournament continues and Seishun Academy beating St. Rudolph, Seishun continues to practice and prepare for their next tournament. But a cold, violent player from Yamabuki Jr. High named Jin is a person who is used to communicating with his fists and thinking he is the best, the first thing he does with Ryoma is injuring him by smacking rocks towards his face.
But instead of having Jin disqualified, Ryoma now wants nothing more than to beat Jin in a game of Tennis.
Meanwhile, Seishun Academy is upping the ante of its tennis tournaments and for the practice singles matchup, Ryoma must take on Shusuke Fujii. Who will win between these two excellent Seishun players?
With the latest “The Prince of Tennis” tenth volume, we are introduce to possible one of the most vile tennis players to show up on the series so far, Jin of Yamabuki High. A hothead who is dominant in martial arts and tennis and is good at threatening and hurting innocent people.
And now he has set his target on Ryoma and his first introduction to Ryoma is by injuring his face.
This sets up to a major rivalry between the two players and as the first half was exciting by introducing us to Jin of Yamabuki High, the second half concludes with a singles matchup betwen Ryoma vs. Shusuke. A matchup that I didn’t see coming and for the most part, if you have followed the series so far, what an awesome matchup this will be!
Character design by Takeshi Konomi are always well-done, the storyline manages to capture the excitement of tennis and strategy of tennis, but also for the series of introducing a cold antagonist. Great artwork and for the most part, his attention to detail for the players and the surrounding environments are well-done.
Overall, this is another exciting volume of “The Prince of Tennis”. Recommended!
