The Korean drama “HYENA” from CJ Media, Inc. is a 16-episode drama series that aired in Korea from October-November and stars Kim Chul Soo, Lee Jeong Yun, Choi Jin Sang, Choi Jin Beom and more.

The drama is about four men in their thirties who look for casual relationships. The drama was a hit in Korea and was recently picked up by Sony Pictures Television International in August for European rights and also noted for its quality because it’s not from broadcasters KBS, MBC or SBS.

So, naturally its no surprised that a soundtrack would be released for the series because it features a soundtrack that comprises of pop, rock and bossa nova.

Adding to the popularity of this soundtrack is that it features three very popular members of Super Junior (Super Junior is a 13-member boy band in Korea) known as K.R.Y. (the trio consists of Kyuhyun, Ryeowook and Yesung). The trio sing the theme song “The Night Chicago Died” and two other songs which include their hit ballad “The One I Love”.

Also, adding the popularity of the soundtrack is the inclusion of two rock songs (“Go! Go!” and “My Tears”) by South Korean rock band TRAX (Typhoon of the Rose Attack on Christmas) who are produced by X-Japan’s Yoshiki.

The soundtrack also includes a ballad “Zero” from Seo Hyun Jin (lead singer of M.I.L.K.).

So, all in all, you get a good balanced soundtrack with cool music by popular performers in S. Korea.

The CD insert features tidbits about the film and the characters of the film and the music.

The “HYENA” soundtrack is very cool soundtrack. The Korean remake of Paper Lace’s 1974 hit “The Night Chicago Died” is very cool and the ballads by K.R.Y. (The One I Love) and Seo Hyun Jin (Zero) are very beautiful songs. Also, enjoyed the jazzy “Bossa Cha Cha”. All in all, a very well-balanced and very enjoyable drama soundtrack that showcases the beauty from the drama “HYENA”.
