Former gravure idol and former member of musical group WI*TH, Takasugi Satomi released her third CD single titled “Yukiboshi/Soshite Boku wa Toho ni Kureru” back in December 2007.

With a new album “garden” and fourth CD single “Issho ni” scheduled for a simulatenous released on February 20th, Takasugi has definitely been busy.

With the first track “Yukiboshi”, the song features a nice mellow rock song balanced with strings. To tell you the truth, the song had a reminiscent feeling of old school My Little Lover with the use of the strings which added a nice touch to the overall song.

The second track “Soshite Boku wa Tohono ni Kureru” was a song that was supposed to be the singer’s initial debut release song but was held back and used as the double A-side for her third CD single.

The song is cover of a classic originally by Osawa Yoshiyuki and Takasugi’s version is a bit slower tempo wise. Nevertheless, for those who don’t remember or have heard the original version will probably like Takasugi’s version.

The last two tracks are the instrumental versions of both songs.

As for the DVD, the DVD features the music video for “Yukiboshi” and features Takasugi singing with CG flowers, trees, clouds and rose petals all over the place and then transcends to Takasugi inside a home, singing until the CG flowers start popping up throughout the house and Takasugi wandering through the house to see where the flowers lead to.

The CG are the kind that you typically see on G4TV or HGTV, so I guess you can say, the CG is something that is kind of overused and to tell you the truth, really doesn’t make too much sense when compared to the songs lyrics.

As for the CD insert, it is a tri-fold which features the lyrics. The other side features two photos of Takasugi and song and music video credits.

All in all, Takasugi has a very beautiful voice and for this CD single, I actually enjoyed both songs.

I see a lot of potential in her music but at the same time, with so many female artists in Japan, unfortunately Takasugi’s music can get lost in the shuffle of releases. Fortunately, she has her fans that followed her when she was a gravure model, a member of WI*TH and those who believe in her potential.

I really enjoyed her song “Tabibito” from the “Saiyuki Original Soundtrack” and also enjoyed her song “Hyaku Renka” but I feel that there needs to be some unique marketing with her.

All in all, her third CD single “Yukiboshi/Shoshite Boku wa Toho ni Kureru” is an enjoyable and relaxing CD single and look foward to her upcoming CD single and album.
