With the street racing film SPEED MASTER out in Japan, the theme song is getting two consecutive releases with 8-BALL feat. m.o.v.e – “SPEED MASTER” and m.o.v.e feat. 8-BALL – “SPEED MASTER”.
Let me first emphasize that these two CD singles are two completely different CD single songs with the same title and the same artist.
Both m.o.v.e and 8-BALL have been involved with the racing scene in Japan with 8-BALL being featured on several D-1 compilations and m.o.v.e featured on “INITIAL D” and also several racing compilations and also having its own drift car team via Team m.o.v.e.
For the 8-BALL feat. m.o.v.e version, the collaboration is actually very awesome because you get a very rock and electric guitar driven track and its literally a duet between 8-BALL’s KEIICHI and m.o.v.e’s yuri and the music works in conjunction with motsu’s rhymes.
Of the various versions of “SPEED MASTER” featured on both CD singles, my favorite is the 8-BALL feat. m.o.v.e version because its a pretty cool rock song but those who miss the “INITIAL D” style of m.o.v.e music will want the m.o.v.e feat. 8-BALL CD single version.
The CD single comes with an all English ballad by 8-BALL and two remix versions by KEIICHI and CHRIS. And in the remix department, I prefer the remixes by Dave Rodgers and remo-con on the m.o.v.e feat. 8-BALL CD single. This version is more rock-inspired remixes on this CD single while the other is more Eurobeat. The rock remixes are pretty cool but when it comes to m.o.v.e, I like getting that nostalgic feel of the “INITIAL D” Eurobeat years and you get that with their remixes on the other CD single.
The DVD features the 8-BALL feat. m.o.v.e promotional video of “STREET MASTER” and the film’s trailer.

If you are a fan of 8-BALL or m.o.v.e, you really can’t go wrong purchasing both. They are two collaborations that feature entirely different songs that have the same title.
My preference for best “SPEED MASTER” goes to 8-BALL feat. m.o.v.e but on the remix end, I prefer the m.o.v.e feat. 8-BALL CD single.
So, depending on your musical preference, go with 8-BALL feat. m.o.v.e if you want music that is more rock driven or m.o.v.e feat. 8-BALL for music that is more Eurobeat driven.
Both are two energetic and enjoyable CD singles.
