When I was looking at the CD single cover for “Shonan Mid Night Club” by the band 5050 (FIFTY-FIFTY), first impression was here is a modern young Kome Kome Club.

5050 is a band that features a funky, pop sound that consists of three vocalists: Dance Vocalist – Tequila Kisaharu, Smile Vocal – Neo., Performance Vocal- M:L.A.: Chihiro and musicians: Guitarist – BOOM BOOM and BINTA, Bass – GoAhead Kimura, Drums – McGHIE and saxophone: RayBurn.

The music is indeed reminiscent of Kome Kome Club and their song “Shonan Mid Night Club” is a fun party dance song featuring well-done music combined with cool, smooth vocals. The coupling track “Happy Birthday” is also another cool, funky dance song that is very reminiscent to old school Kome Kome Club music which is more or less funky dance music with a bit of sax but also incorporating a bit of hip-hop into their music.

The CD insert contains the lyrics for both songs and an insert with info. on the official Website.

5050′s first CD single “Shonan Mid Night Club” is actually a fun, well-done dance CD single and I dig the funky vibe, the saxaphone playing and good vocals that incorporates both singing and hip-hop. In a way, it’s like Kome Kome Club meets DA PUMP.

It’s a good CD single, great first effort and I look forward to hearing more from them in the near future.
