When it comes to Japanese female pop groups, one of the most popular groups to debut from Japan was WINK, a duo which consist of Sachiko Suzuki and Shoko Aida who had songs that topped the Oricon Charts from the late ’80s to early ’90s. With the announcement that the group (who have been inactive for a while) that they are calling it quits in 1996 and are releasing one final album, we are going to see re-releases of previous WINK albums in store shelves.
But one new album has come out recently and it is a remix album and I have to say that of the many remix albums I have listened to, this is one of the best remix albums ever done for a pop group.
The album features remixes by T. Tashiro, Wanted in 50 States, D-RAM, No Limits, Groove Homes, R.J.W. and many more. The remixes are well-arranged, upbeat and I literally can’t stop listening to this album. It’s that good!
Favorites on the album include the Eurobeat “Turn It Into Love ~Be Thankful For What You’ve Got” and “Jive Into the Night~Full Length Hyper Euro Mix” remixed by T. Tashiro, M. Kawaguchi/MST. Wanted in 50 States does an awesome “Black Energy Mix” for “One Night in Heaven”, definitely love the beats, deep bass and the music they used for this track and giving this song a new dimension. Also, enjoy the urban beats for “Especially For You – Cool Down Mix by Groove Homes. Well-done!
But my favorite track on the album is “Where Were You Last Night ~Vocal Remix” by D-RAM. All I can say is WOW! If anything, D-RAM just plays with the vocals and puts an after echo to each verse. Very cool!
Original songs such as “Turn it into Love”, “Sexy Music”, “Special To Me”, “Ain’t nobody”, “One Night In Heaven”, “My Turn” and “Where Were You Last Night” are given fantastic remixes and surprisingly, it’s not like one or two songs in the album that are good, all of them are good.
If you are a WINK fan and also appreciate good dance music, especially remix albums, I highly recommend “WINK-REMIXES”.
