It’s no surprise how hot the SNL Digital Shorts have been on the Internet.  Viral videos courtesy of THE LONELY ISLAND which consists of Saturday Night Live cast member Andy Samberg and SNL writers Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone (aka the Dudes).

May it be “Natalie’s Rap” featuring a profanity laced hip hop track by actress Natalie Portman, “Lazy Sunday” with Chris Parnell, the 2007 Creative Arts Emmy Award winning song “Dick in a Box” featuring Samberg and Justin Timberlake and the Euro driven club track “Jizz in My Pants”.  These songs have been viewed on YouTube thousands of times and with so many of these songs by the Dudes featured on Saturday Night Live, it was definitely time for the trio to have their own comedy album.

But this album would bring in their past material but also some new material featuring T-Pain, Jack Black, Norah Jones, E-40 and many more.

For several tracks, the guys team up with E-40 on track such as “Who Said We’re Wack” which is a one minute track featuring the guys questioning who said they’re wack; “Santana DVX” featuring Carlos Santana champagne, “Punch You in the Jeans”, “We Like Sportz” and “Shrooms” (interlude).

The third track “Jizz in My Pants” which definitely became a viral video and one of the most recent tracks from The Lonely Island.  The track featured a very entertaining music video with cameos from various celebrities.  The track has a cool musical production with cool beats, with a Euro club beat and of course, memorable lyrics of guys easily jizzing in their pants.

The fourth track “I’m on a Boat” features a pretty tight cool hip hop track featuring T-Pain with audiotune and all.  In your face, profanity-laced but it’s all good.

The fifth track “Sax Man” features comedian Jack Black (Tenacious D).  The song has an old school 80′s musical vibe.

The sixth track is another SNL Digital Short “Lazy Sunday” featuring comedian Chris Parnell.

The eighth track “Boombox” features another hip hop track with vocals by the Strokes Julian Casablancas. Followed by a short bass driven hip hop track “Like a Boss”.

The 12th track “Dreamgirl” is a hip hop track with a vocals in the chorus by Norah Jones who loves comedy and it shows as she sings about a guy who looks like trash.

The 13th reggae track “Ras Trent” features music by Sly & Robbie and beats from Jurassic 5 turntable master DJ Nu-Mark and underground producer DJ J-Zone. A hilarious and badly sung track.

The 14th track is the huge SNL Digital Short track “Dick in a Box” featuring Adam Samberg and Justin Timberlake. Which is great to hear uncensored but there is something about watching the video and hearing the gasps that made it much more entertaining for me. But overall, definitely will be an SNL classic.

And of course, you get another SNL Digital Short track classic with “Natalie’s Rap” featuring Natalie Portman and much more!

For a comedy track, The Lonely Island tracks are hilarious but with an upcoming DVD coming out, part of the enjoyment for me is watching the craziness on video. And that is where I feel the strengths of The Lonely Island or the Dudes are is the visual aspect of their comedy.  You know those guys are going to go crazy for the DVD production and I’m actually curious if there are some behind-the-scenes with the various talent involved with these projects.

But nevertheless, the Dudes have definitely spruced things up for “Saturday Night Live” with these musical tracks and I always look forward to whatever music video they have coming up.  All in all, for a comedy album release, if you enjoyed their hilarious songs and want to hear them in uncensored glory, definitely pick up “INCREDIBAD”.
