What an interesting collaboration to have pop legend Cyndi Lauper and garage punk band from Sweden, The Hives together for a Christmas single titled “A Christmas Duel”.
Unlike your happy or sad Christmas songs out there, both the HIVES and Lauper go for a Christmas song that is more towards dysfunctional.
Just showing you the lyrics will be to show how dysfunctional and fun this song is:
Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist: I bought no gift this year and I slept with your sister. I know I should have thought twice before I kissed her. But with the year we had last and the dress that she wore. I just went along for the ride and I came back for more. And I’m sorry baby.
Cyndi Lauper: That’s OK Honey pussy. I bought a new tree this year and I slept with your brother. I wrecked your daddy’s car and went down on your mother. I set your record collection on fire and said I never knew, felt kind of bad about that and I know you did too. So, whatever you say, it’s all fine with me. Who the fuck anyway, wants a Christmas tree.
The song is just a fun Christmas rock song that is just enjoyable and fun to listen to.
With Christmas coming up, I’m sure some will get tired of the usual Christmas songs that they hear every year. But for those who just wants to listen to something different, fun and so dysfunctional, definitely give “A Christmas Duel” a try.
A fun collaboration with THE HIVES and Cyndi Lauper and a Christmas song that definitely will be in my holiday music playlist!
