SMAP’s 28th single is the theme song for Nakai Masahiro’s drama “Brothers”. An upbeat, happy song but compared to previous releases, it’s a single that is average at best.

After having a successful single with the release of “Yozora no Mukou”, SMAP returns with their new single “Taisetsu” (which translates to “important”) and is the theme song to SMAP member Masahiro Nakai’s TV drama “Brothers”. “Taisetsu” is a catchy pop song, not necessarily their best single but I suppose it’s a family friendly, fan friendly, catchy pop song.
If anything, the song captures the comedic and upbeat nature of the drama series which I have been watching but on its own as a single, it’s catchy and one of those songs that you can find yourself listening to and singing a lot to, but for me its more of an average musical offering from the group.
The coupling song “Koi no Katachi” (which translates to “The Shape of Love”) is a slow-tempo, jazzy ballad. The remaining two tracks feature the instrumental tracks for both vocal tracks.
As for extras, a photo of the group is included (rear side is promoting the group’s upcoming album SMAP 012″.
Overall, if you are a hardcore SMAP fan or a fan of the “Brothers” drama series, then this single is for you.
