In Japan, Shikao Suga is one of the most famous Japanese musicians, singer and songwriters. Famous for penning hits such as SMAP’s “Yozora no Mukou”, Chisato Moritaka’s “Tanopo no Tane”, KAT-TUN’s “Real Face” and Arashi’s “Azora Pedal”, he also has a string of hits which include “Hachigatsu no Serenade” (from the anime series “Honey and Clover”), “Nobody Knows” (xxxHolic) and many more.
His 26th single “Hajimari no Hi” features a collaboration with hip-hop artist Mummy-D (RHYMESTER). A catch rock track showcasing Shikao’s smooth vocals and guitar playing. While the second track “Oretachi Funky Fire” showcases Shikao’s love for funk music. The third track “Neko-san” features a pretty cool, mellow acoustic guitar driven track. If anything, because the first two tracks are upbeat, it was pretty cool to have this mellow acoustic guitar track included in the single.
The insert features a standard bi-fold with the lyrics and production credits.
Overall, another solid and catchy single by Shikao Suga and a cool collaboration with hip hop artist Mummy-D!
