Ryoko Shinohara, the former Tokyo Performance Dolls member is back with her fourth solo single. But this time around, she will be teaming up with Tetsuya Komuro who has become one of the most popular producers in Japan with his string of #1 hits that he has done with trf.

But what makes this single a bit special is that it’s for the anime film “Street Fighter II” which many people have been waiting for. And rarely do you see popular J-Pop artists especially a popular producer such as TK getting involved with an anime-related project (most anime songs are sung by Seiyuu or the budget typically doesn’t allow for major production for a major artist let alone a major music producer), but the fact is “Street Fighter II” is one of the most popular video games in the planet and it has been a financial success for video game company CAPCOM, so I’m sure they can afford someone like TK.

The single “Itoshisa to Setsunasa to Kokoro Tsuyosa to” is really gaining steam. Ryoko Shinohara has been performing this song on television quite a bit and its’ an easy pairing on the music shows because if a show is book the popular group trf, TK is able to bring his latest female solo artist Ryoko Shinohara to the series as well.

The song is catchy, upbeat and addictive and is used as the opening theme for the film. TK goes for a more upbeat electro-pop sound compared to what he has done with trf of late, but it’s a solid single and no doubt will propel Ryoko Shinohara to the top of the Japanese music scene.

The coupling track “GooD LucK” is the ending theme for the “Street Fighter II” movie and is more of a celebration for “Street Fighter”. It’s a fun mid-tempo J-Pop song but it does have cheesy lyrics with the “La la la la…Hurray for the Street Fighter”. But I suppose it does work for the song.

The third track is the instrumental version of “Itoshisa to Setsunasa to Kokoro Tsuyosa to”.

Overall, this latest single for Ryoko Shinohara is a pretty awesome single which I’ve listened to so many times now. If you are a “Street Fighter II” fan, TK fan or a Ryoko Shinohara fan, then definitely give “Itoshisa to Setsunasa to Kokoro Tsuyosa to” a try!
