Many people who are familiar with Miranda Cosgrove know of her from the Nickelodeon television shows “Drake & Josh” and her popular (and very successful) television ongoing show “iCarly” but we got a taste of Cosgrove’s vocals through the “ICarly” theme song as she sung “Leave it All to me”.

But this is a Miranda Cosgrove who is growing older right before eyes and her first single “Kissin U” was a solid effort.  Now, here she is with her new album “Sparks Fly” which includes music collaborations with producers Matrix and Dr. Luke.  And with big names such as these producers, she’s definitely in good company.

On April 27th, “Sparks Fly” was released in a standard and deluxe edition (which comes with five additional songs).

“Sparks Fly” kicks off with “Kissin U”, a song co-written by Cosgrove and Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald (known for hits such as Britney Spear’s “Circus”, Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl” and “Hot N Cold”, Flo Rida’s “Right Round” and Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone” and “Behind These Hazel Eyes”.  The song/single showed great potential as the song is catchy and addictive.

The second track “BAM” features a catchy, pop tune by Antonina Armato (who has worked with Miley Cyrus, David Archuleta and Selena Gomez & the Scene), Tim James and Rodney Jerkins (who has worked with Britney Spears, Brandy, Janet Jackson, Destiny’s Child).

Also, included in “Sparks Fly” is “Daydream” written by Avril Lavigne and the song definitely has an Avril musical feel to it but Cosgrove definitely does a great job with the vocals.

Other tracks include the catchy, pop track “Disgusting”; “Shakespeare” – a rock driven track; the lovely ballad “Hey You” and the sugary, upbeat pop track “Oh Oh” and the well-done/solid pop track “There Will Be Tears”.

“Sparks Fly” is a very good album and if you enjoyed her first single “Kissin U”, you’ll definitely be pleased with the overall tracks.  “Sparks Fly” shows us a good diverse side of Cosgrove, may it be pop or rock.  But I do feel that she shines in tracks such as “Kissin U” and “Daydream”.

Overall, Cosgrove fans should be happy with this album release!
