When Jay-Z and Alicia Keyes collaborated for the track “Empire State of Mind”, the song literally became an anthem for New Yorkers and dominated the charts for weeks. Now Katy Perry has created the West Coast/California song for the California girls and teams up with California-based hip hop artist Snoop Dogg and producers Dr. Luke, Max Martin and Benny Blanco.
Katy Perry’s “California Gurls” is a definitely fun, Summer pop track which comes from the female perspective and displays pretty cool ’90s style music and personally, I have no doubt that California Girls will respond to the song with much fanfare (although not sure how listeners from the 49 other states will feel).
But who can deny such catchy lyrics:
California girls
We’re unforgettable
Daisy dukes
Bikini’s on top
Sun kissed
Skin so hot
We’ll melt your popscicle
How hot is that?
Overall, another enjoyable track from Katy Perry and to hear Snoop Dogg on the track definitely makes this California/West Coast track that much more enjoyable! If anything, it’s great to hear Katy Perry with another guaranteed hit song and giving us something to enjoy until her next full-length album comes out during the summer!
