Ikimonogakari’s 16th CD single is a mellow release but features two solid mid-tempo tracks. An enjoyable release and fans of the band will definitely enjoy this latest single release!

In November 2009, the band Ikimonogakari (feat. Hotaka Yamashita-guitar/harmonica/writer, Yoshiki Mizuno – band leader/guitarist and Kiyoe Yoshioka – vocalist/songwriter) released their 16th CD single “Nakumonka” (I’ll be without) which is the theme song of the movie of the same name.
The song features an upbeat rock ballad and features a good touch of electric guitar and strings which balances quite nicely with Kiyoe Yoshioka’s vocals. A solid CD single from the band!
The coupling song “Orion” is a harmonica and acoustic guitar-driven, mid-tempo track. A beautiful mellow track and it actually balances nicely on the CD single with “Nakumonka”.
The third track is an instrumental version of “Nakumonka”.
As for the CD insert, the insert features photos of each of the three members in animal clothing at an amusement park plus the lyrics to the two songs. Also, included is an ikimonogakari card of the three band members kicking back while wearing their animal costumes. As for the CD+DVD release, the DVD features a music video for their second double A-side song “Joyful” from their 15th CD single.
Overall, “Nakumonka” is a mellow CD single release but both feature two songs that are well-written and for the most part catchy. Both are enjoyable tracks and if you are a fan of Ikimonogakari, you won’t be disappointed by the single. Definitely worth listening to!
