Known for their importance in the formation of Visual Kei in the early 80′s, D’ERLANGER called it quits in 1993.

The group has now returned 15 years later and released their fourth CD single “Zakuro” (note: their last CD single “Lullabye” was released back in Sept. 1990) and a new album on April 30th titled “The Price of Being a Rose is Loneliness”.

The current group consists of members Kyo (vocals), Cipher (guitar), Seela (bass guitar) and Tetsu (drums) and the group still manages to keep their visual kei look and with this CD single, manages to retain the hard hitting sound as they did during their heyday.

“Zakuro” features a total three tracks with “Zakuro” featuring atmospheric chiming guitars and charismatic vocals.

The second track “Sensual Dance” continues with Cipher’s harsh guitar atmospherics not too frantic or thrashy. The vocals of Kyo makes the music overall smooth with his warm voice but the music in this track, especially with the changes of the galloping drums and bleary guitar transitioning to acoustic guitar at the middle of the song was pretty cool.

The final track “Loveanymore” is a song enhanced by the use of strings and very cool hooks by Cipher. A pretty cool song nevertheless.

The CD insert features a tri-fold with lyrics to the tracks and a little flyer promoting the 25th Anniversary Live of D’ERLANGER on May 6th.

As bands such as the Southern All Stars retain their rock n’ roll routes today as they did in the 70s, D’ERLANGER manages to not stray too far away from the music of their youth from the 80s.

I was watching their videos of the performance of “Lullabye” and the group definitely rocked back then and they rock now.

So, for fans of D’ERLANGER, their return to the music scene, especially to celebrate their 25th Anniversary is something to be excited about and as they catered to a generation in the 80s and early 90s with their music, the new generation of fans can now appreciate their music with the re-release albums out now and their new music as well.

All in all, a very cool CD single!
