When I first listened to “Here We Go Again”, the first single off her second album of the same title, I pretty much felt that we have seen this Disney-driven actress/singer blossom to a talented musical artist.
It’s one thing to see Demi Lovato shine on “Camp Rock” and her debut album “Don’t Forget” but the singer has said that this album is “more me” and that includes a sound that incorporates a Jonas Brothers and John Mayer sound.
Inspired by John Mayer, The Jonas Brothers and Jon McLaughlin, Lovato has collaborated with these talents and the end result is a fantastic sophomore album that easily eclipses her debut album in musical production but also vocally.
It’s one thing to have a solid track “Here We Go Again” but she continues that rock/pop excitement with tracks such as “Solo”, “Got Dynamite” and “Everything You’re Not”.
But she shines in tracks such as her acoustic guitar track “Catch Me” which she solely wrote, shines in the John Mayer collaboration with “World of Chances”, the upbeat “Stop the World” track which she wrote with Jonas Brothers Nick Jonas and “Falling Over Me” which she collaborated with Jon McLaughlin.
Overall, Lovato has distanced herself from other Disney talent turned music artists with her latest album “Here We Go Again”. She can act but she can also sing and she has positioned herself to become one of the prominent young singers in the musical scene today.
This album is definitely recommended!
