“The debut Album for ‘American Idol’ finalist David Archuleta. The album showcases that David Archuleta passionate style with catchy vocals. If you enjoyed his debut song ‘Crush’, more than likely you will dig this album. Overall, a pretty solid debut for the young artist.”

It’s no surprise that David Archuleta was among the more popular vocalists from last season of “American Idol”. Although coming in second place, Archuleta has done quite well with his first CD single “Crush” which debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at #2.
I have to admit that when I first heard David Archuleta on “American Idol”, his vocal style and overall image definitely has a very pure and even grounded type of look. So, I have to admit that his post-AI career with songs such as “Crush” was definitely a good transition and definitely songs that are catchy but yet quite appealing. The fact that it was produced by Emanuel “Eman” Kiriakou known for his works with Celine Dion, Clay Aiken, Nick Lachey, Jordin Sparks and Disney stars Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens. So, definitely a good start.
As for his self-titled debut album, you get a good share of hits with songs such as “Crush”, “My Hands” and “Don’t Let Go” but if anything, you get a good balance of pop and ballads.
I know that Archuleta is a big admirer of artist Sara Bareilles and in a way, listening to this album is like listening to a young male version of Bareilles.
His songs have a purity to it that matches his image. His songs are innocent and don’t stray into any dark or dirty. With songs such as the acoustic guitar driven track “You Can” and “Angels”, the songs are innocent, catchy and definitely will appeal to his fans.
If anything, his vocals are quite consistent on each of the tracks of this album. Not much experimentation with musical styles but for Archuleta, it’s what is safe and it is what works.

Personally, the album showcases the David Archuleta that you watched on “American Idol”. The vocal style, the image…and again, those fans who enjoyed that passionate style of Archuleta’s music is surely going to enjoy this album.
It’s not going to be for everyone. Some may find it too safe and probably too pedestrian, especially if you are going to compare Archuleta with other top tier male vocalists at this time. But if you enjoyed his debut song “Crush”, then I can tell you that a lot of the music featured on his album is within that style of music.
So, if you are a big fan or David Archuleta or even liked his first CD single, you’ll definitely enjoy his debut album. Check it out!
