Alan Dawa Dolma (also known in Japan as “alan”), a Tibetan music artist who has done quite well as a vocalist in Japan, known for her beautiful vocals plus her able to incorporate her Tibetan wail and her talent of playing the instrument, the erhu.

In October 2008, alan released her sixth single “Red Cliff: Shin-Sen” but in April 2009, with the release of her ninth CD single “Kuon no Kawa” (River of Eternity), she became the first Chinese music artist in Japan to debut at #1 on the Oricon Daily Charts.

The single is the theme to the sequel to the John Woo film “The Red Cliff” and the track “Kuon no Kawa” is the best I have ever hear from alan. The song has a great balance of orchestra and just an amazing track vocally. The song features a collaboration with Camino guitarist KIKU, drums from Toru Soul, strings from Yuko Kajitani Strings and bass by Hiroshi Shimono with music produced by Kazuhito Kikuchi. Simply a magnificent single from alan!

The coupling songs include “Chi Bi: Da Jiang Dong Qu” (the Chinese version of “Kuon no Kawa”), her seventh CD single track “RED CLIFF ~Shin Sen~” and her second Chinese CD single “Xin Zhan ~Red Cliff~” plus the instrumental tracks for the first two songs.

The DVD features a beautiful music video directed by Tetsuo Inoue and features alan in a luxurious Chinese traditional outfit while she sings “Kuon no Kawa” and included on the DVD is alan’s music video for “RED CLIFF ~Shin Sen~” featuring alan singing the song and watching her deceased body on the boat while it heads out to see and while she is singing the song, all possessions inside the home begins to catch on fire. Two really exceptional music videos! Well-done!

Overall, I can see why this CD single has done well. This is her best release yet! Beautiful musical arrangements, awesome vocals, two really-well directed music videos. “Kuon no Kawa” is definitely a must-buy for alan fans!

NOTICEABLE CONTENTS:

The CD single insert comes with lyrics and production credits for all songs. Plus a mini-flier promoting alan’s “Voice of Earth” album.
