After reviewing Acid Black Cherry’s “Fuyu no Maboroshi” (the fourth CD single) and watching the music video, I realized their is somewhat of a storyline in the music videos featuring lead vocalist Yasu and his band members in otaku like outfits which culminated up to the dramatic ending of “Fuyu no Maboroshi”.

I noticed I missed reviewing “Aishite Nai”, so I listened to the third CD single which was more or less a ballad or un-ballad due to the title which translates to “not in love”.

But the CD single is more or less a slower-paced song compared to Acid Black Cherry’s previous releases which were very rock oriented with the thrashing guitars.

AKIHIDE (of BREAKERZ) is still heard prominently with his churning guitars in the background, as with SHUSE’s bass-playing. But nevertheless a song sung passionately by Yasu.

As for the coupling song “Ihoujin” (foreigner), following Yasu’s cover selections as in previous CD single, this time he goes to a no. 1 chart topping song from 1979 originally by Kume Sayuri and a song that has been covered a total of 13 times and in 2003 was most notable for the version by B’z guitarist Matsumoto Tak and ZARD.

The Acid Black Cherry version is pop oriented but a beautiful string arrangement in the background. All instruments were by Janne Da Arc keyboardist kiyo.

There are only these two tracks, no instrumentals included.

The DVD features the music video and off-shot.

The music video does not feature the otaku group as shown on the previous videos but features Yasu singing in the rain. You learn through the off-shot, which is literally the behind-the-scenes of the music video and recording of the song that cold water was pouring all over Yasu and after the shooting of the music video, Yasu screaming of how cold he was feeling.

But all in all, the off-shot was surprisingly lengthy at over 10-minutes. So, it was great to have that included.

As for the CD insert, standard tri-fold with lyrics and production credits on one side, pictures of Yasu on the other and a flyer promoting Acid Black Cherry’s fourth CD single and previous CD singles.

Overall, “Aishite Nai” is the slower-paced single of the first four CD singles but the music is very cool and as usual, Yasu’s vocals are well done.

Of course, I recommend the CD+DVD version pretty much for inclusion of the off-shot video which features a lot of footage if you are a big fan of Yasu or Acid Black Cherry in general.

But a solid CD single nevertheless! Check it out!
