EA LAUNCHES DEAD SPACE, NEW SURVIVAL HORROR GAME, AND REMINDS PARENTS OF 18 RATING
October 27, 2008 by Dennis Amith · Leave a Comment
Guildford, UK – October 24, 2008 – Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) announced today that Dead Space™, the award-winning new action-packed, survival horror game from EA hits shelves today at British retail and reminds parents of the game’s 18 rating. The game will be available for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and PC.
“Dead Space is a bold and often bloody gaming experience filled with tension and terror – this one isn’t for kids,” said Keith Ramsdale, Vice President and General Manager of EA UK, Ireland and Nordics. “We recognize the need to help British parents better understand the age rating system for video games, and 18 means a game is not appropriate for minors. But for adult gamers who crave gruesome action in a survival horror fiction, Dead Space promises to be a big hit!”
Dead Space is a science fiction survival horror game set in the far future that sees the main character, Isaac Clarke, battle against a malevolent alien presence. The 18 rating advises consumers of the presence of adult content in the game.
Age-ratings for video games range from 3+, 7+, 12+, 16+ to 18, all clearly indicated on-pack to give players an easy to understand visual coding that assesses content appropriateness for a given age group.

The original 2D classic Mega Man returns in Mega Man 9 for Nintendo WiiWareTM, Xbox LIVE® Arcade, and PLAYSTATION® Network. This latest Mega Man title brings the series back to its old school roots with retro action platforming gameplay and classic 8-bit NES-style graphics and sound. Relive the Mega Man experience with classically inspired bosses, each with their own unique weapons and weaknesses.
The story of Mega Man begins in the year 200X, as the advanced science of the era has created industrial robots that co-exist with humans. However, an evil genius, Dr. Wily, plots for world domination and creates his own robot army to take over mankind. Luckily for humanity, Dr. Light outfits one of his domestic robots “Rock” to fight Dr. Wily’s creations. Mega Man is born.
Set after the events of Mega Man 8, multiple riots have sprung up all over the world. Whilst many people suspect that this is another plot from Dr. Wily, Dr. Light is stunned to recognize that some of the robots rioting on the TV screen are his own creations. Even more stunning, Dr. Wily appears on television to proclaim that Dr. Light is the evil mastermind behind these latest catastrophic incidents and it’s up to Mega Man to clear his creator’s name!

[XBOX360] Microsoft commissions “traditional Korean” Xboxes
May 19, 2008 by Dennis Amith · Leave a Comment

Chosun reported, “When Bill Gates met President Lee Myung-bak at Cheong Wa Dae on May 6, the Microsoft chairman came bearing a very special gift: a Microsoft Xbox video game console inlaid with traditional Korean mother-of-pearl. In fact 100 similar Xboxes are being prepared by a Korean artisan, intended as special VIP gifts from the Microsoft chief.”
“The decoration is the handiwork of Kim Young-jun, the head of a manufacturing company called Gookbo. “I got a call from Microsoft Korea last month,” Kim said. “They told me something about an Xbox, but I had no idea what that was. I thought they were talking about some kind of black box.”
