Unleash Third-Person PC Shooter Fury with Mercenary Ops
April 17, 2012 by J!-ENT · Leave a Comment
SAN JOSE, Calif. — April 17, 2012 — PC shooter fans looking for a new twist on online multiplayer games are certain to find it this summer in Mercenary Ops. The new title combines the best of the tactical gameplay elements from conventional third-person shooters with the fast-paced competitive and cooperative team matches found in online multiplayer titles – and adds to the mix a deeper layer of character development and customization.
“In a third-person shooter, the online multiplayer aspect of the game always seems to be an after-thought to the single-player experience,” said Mercenary Ops Producer, Jason Sharp. “Because of this, we decided to concentrate on creating an entirely different online experience by looking at every facet of game design from that perspective. This decision resulted in a unique style of play that enhanced traditional tactical combat by requiring players to have a quicker, more aggressive attitude.”
Like other third-person shooters, Mercenary Ops implements cover-based mechanics and an active reload system as the foundation of the game’s design. Along with these familiar gameplay elements, the developers added the precise control and aiming abilities found only on the PC. In addition, the game was enhanced by adding destructible cover, an encumbrance system and maps designed with multiple threat vectors to shake up the stop-and-pop gameplay often found in third-person shooters.
Combat in Mercenary Ops puts an equal emphasis on both competitive play and team-based cooperative missions. In competitive multiplayer, up to 16 players can faceoff in five different, intense game modes, while in co-op, teams of 3 – 8 players take on hordes of AI controlled enemies and mini-bosses in a fight for survival.
Apart from the dynamic combat features, Mercenary Ops features an array of customization and advancement options. Players gain experience from killing enemies and completing difficult mission objectives, allowing for more opportunities to access weapon and equipment upgrades; some of which can only be obtained in select game modes.
Mercenary Ops was created using the Unreal Engine 3. The engine was selected for its cutting-edge graphics, multi-core processor support, optimization for the PC and massive world support.
Mercenary Ops will launch exclusively for the PC in Summer 2012. More information can be found at www.mercenaryopsgame.com.

SPIRIT CAMERA: THE CURSED MEMOIR BRINGS SUPERNATURAL THRILLS TO NINTENDO 3DS
New Hand-Held Horror Game Delivers Fright-Filled Fun with 3D Environments and a 16-Page Augmented-Reality Book That Brings Ghostly Spirits to Life
REDMOND, Wash., April 13, 2012 – There’s no escaping the scary essence of Friday the 13th as Nintendo unleashes an extraordinary new experience in horror-themed entertainment. Launching today exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS system, Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir invites horror fans to immerse themselves in a chilling hand-held adventure. The game’s 3D visuals and augmented-reality features help unravel the mysterious tale of a girl named Maya who’s been trapped in a haunted house and cursed by a malevolent woman in black. As players strive to rescue Maya, ghostly images are intermingled with real-world environments to create a visceral, personalized experience they won’t soon forget.
Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir comes with the “diary of faces,” a 16-page augmented-reality book that transforms the Nintendo 3DS system into the Camera Obscura. When the “diary of faces” is viewed through the lens of the system’s built-in camera, it allows players to discover unique experiences that not only advance the game’s storyline but also add eerie interactive elements. For example, some pages contain movies that reveal past events that occurred in the haunted house where Maya is trapped, while others cause evil spirits to seemingly emerge from the book and into players’ own real-world surroundings.
“Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir literally takes hand-held horror games into a new dimension,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “With the augmented-reality features of Nintendo 3DS, horror fans can not only enjoy a captivating ghost story, they’ll also be drawn deeper into the action as the lines between reality and the game world blur in unique ways.”
In addition to the main Story Mode, Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir includes additional modes that highlight the built-in 3D photo capabilities of Nintendo 3DS. Spirit Photography mode enhances everyday pictures with haunting visions, while Spirit Check reveals spirits haunting you and your friends. In Spirit Challenge mode, faces of your photographed friends mystically appear on evil spirits in the game, and challenge players to battle against them.
A third mode called Cursed Pages offers additional game content featuring supernatural twists. For instances, players can confront strange masks that are haunted by a boy’s spirit or complete memory challenges to identify and dispel an evil doll spirit.
Remember that Nintendo 3DS features parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access. For more information about this and other features, visit http://www.nintendo.com/3ds.

TECMO KOEI AMERICA RELEASES NINJA GAIDEN 3 ON XBOX 360 AND PLAYSTATION 3
March 20, 2012 by J!-ENT · Leave a Comment
Highly Anticipated Action Title Arrives to Take Players Behind the Mask of Famed Ninja, Ryu Hayabusa in Team NINJA’s Fresh Take on the Illustrious NINJA GAIDEN Franchise
BURLINGAME, Calif. March 20, 2012 – It is time to pick up the Dragon Sword once more… TECMO KOEI America today announced that its highly anticipated action title, NINJA GAIDEN 3, has started shipping to retailers nationwide. Developed by Team NINJA, the innovative new installment in the famed fighting series is now available for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, with a value-packed NINJA GAIDEN 3 Collector’s Edition also available for both consoles.
NINJA GAIDEN 3 takes players behind the mask of the series’ beloved Japanese dark hero, Ryu Hayabusa, with an original story from noted writer Masato Kato that brings new depth to the game’s hardcore fighting and swordsmanship. Built upon the same intense action for which the franchise is renowned, NINJA GAIDEN 3 will challenge seasoned players while still remaining accessible for newer players. Team NINJA’s game delivers a heightened intensity during close combat fighting, including the visceral sensation of cutting through flesh and bone, while featuring all-new online multiplayer modes that introduce a new dimension for the NINJA GAIDEN series.
“The launch of NINJA GAIDEN 3 gives action fans their first chance to go behind the mask of the world’s greatest ninja, Ryu Hayabusa and experience Team NINJA’s strong new direction for this legendary franchise” said Amos Ip, SVP and General Manager of TECMO KOEI America. “Players will learn what it means to be a dark hero while enjoying an immersive original story, intense new gameplay features, and new modes including online multiplayer combat.”
The conflict in NINJA GAIDEN 3 centers around a masked man whose motivations and goals only become clear as players fight through the unfolding story. Through the curse forced upon him by The Regent of the Mask manifested through his arm, Hayabusa finds himself changing—forever blurring the line between hero and villain. For the first time, players will see the world through Hayabusa’s torn eyes, and find out what drives him to fight, defend, and kill.
For the first time in the history of the franchise, online co-op and competitive multiplayer modes add a completely new dimension to the NINJA GAIDEN experience. Players can step into the shadowy world of the ninja and fight against all challengers to draw closer to the ultimate ninja, Ryu Hayabusa, or participate in two-player cooperative play. Up to eight players can battle in versus combat as well, including the ability to form teams for four-on-four matches—with the treacherous possibility of switching teams in the midst of a match. New challenges, characters, and missions await those who choose to join the Shadows of the World online!
NINJA GAIDEN 3 is ESRB rated “M” (Mature) and is available for an MSRP of $59.99 for the regular edition and $99.99 for the Collector’s Edition. Available at GameStop and EB Games, the special Collector’s Edition gives fans a chance to play all four characters in a DEAD OR ALIVE 5 demo stage, an exclusive NINJA GAIDEN 3 game art book, soundtrack CD, and a unique “Duel of the Masked” figure not available elsewhere. To accompany the release, Team NINJA has also released a new video vignette showcasing upcoming downloadable content that features two weapons free for download. Action Fighting Fans to Rejoice as Team NINJA Elevates its Game by Introducing Signature Virtua Fighter™ Akira Yuki as New Playable Character
BURLNGAME, Calif. March 7th, 2012 – Famed developer Team NINJA unveils today that Akira Yuki, mascot of the Virtua Fighter™ series, will be a playable fighter in the upcoming Dead or Alive 5 game which is headed to the Xbox 360® and PlayStation® 3 in September 2012. The addition of Akira Yuki to Dead or Alive 5 marks the first time ever that the beloved Dead or Alive franchise has opened its rosters to characters from other fighting games. To accompany this exciting announcement, Team NINJA has released a new video vignette showcasing an all new stage in the game and the renowned Akira Yuki in action with Dead or Alive characters.
“Gamers will have an opportunity to enjoy an unforgettable battle with an esteemed competitor in Akira Yuki set in the Dead or Alive environment,” said Yosuke Hayashi, studio head of Team NINJA. “This year will prove to be an amazing one for our loyal fighting fans as we are delivering a fantastic fighting game that can only been experienced in Dead or Alive 5.”
Driven by perfection and the desire to relentlessly master his techniques by taking on any challenger, Akira is a welcomed addition to the cast of dynamic characters only available in Dead or Alive 5. Utilizing a Chinese martial art known as Bājíquán, Akira has become a serious, well-disciplined fighter despite his past as an impulsive hot-headed youngster. Seasoned Dead or Alive series fighters, Ayane and Kasumi join Akira in this video vignette to compete in the all new jungle stage.
Inside a cave in the heart of the jungle, a beaten wooden raft full of scars threatens to pull fighters into the strong current the longer the battle extends. As players bash challengers into the raft supports, it begins to fall apart and the fight escalates to a new level. Even as the raft falls to pieces from the brutal blows and reaches the white-waters at the end of the cave, the battle must continue. Players will be able to similarly train their characters as master fighters have done so in the past on this unique battleground.
Team NINJA and Tecmo Koei, will continue to share more exciting development details on Dead or Alive 5 in the coming months.

“This license with Reverb ensures more Unreal Engine development teams are supported with the type of launch programs independent studios need to have a successful digital title,” said Joe Kreiner, North American licensing manager, Epic Games. “It’s important for Epic to do more than simply license our tech; we are always looking for opportunities to help indie developers successfully bring their creations to market.”

Reverb offers a program flexible enough for developers of any size, from the indies starting with UDK to mature studios looking to establish more freedom from traditional publishing shackles.”
Reverb Publishing welcomes independent developers to join its growing roster of amazing digital titles, including Dungeon Defenders, Black Knight Sword, Jeremy McGrath’s OffRoad, JAM Live Music Arcade, Sanctum 2 and many others.
